09.01.2022 This day, 5 years ago, I started something new. I started something for me, for my family, something that could become bigger than myself. 5 years ago, I was a mascara, tinted moisturizer and lip gloss girl. Today I can actually blend eyeshadow!!!! And can possibly nail a wing... under duress who knew?! But these last 5 years have grown me in ways I did not expect. I have a confidence I did not have before. I have friends from FAR reaching corners... some of whom I’m ...yet to meet face to face! I wondered whether I should actually post this or not. I feel partly ashamed that after 5 years I’m still not where I’d thought I’d be. But I will always aim to be real and totally genuine. Running a business is tough. You are your own boss. You are answerable to no one. If you don’t work, you don’t work. While that can be a blessing, it can also be a curse. Some are wired for no excuses. Run til you get there. That’s not me. I have learned things about how my mind works and in some cases, how a little rewiring is in order! This journey has not always been easy. I have learned things, unlearned things and relearned things MANY times. After 5 years I’ve come to see that there’s a few things God’s been chipping away at for a long time! I actually started writing a speech recently. A speech that I plan to give as future me. Of this turning point in my life and business. At the moment, it’s a projection of my vision for the not so far future. I’ve wanted, for a long time, to speak to a room full of women about hope. I think I’m finally starting to see what that will actually look like. Hope in Jesus but also hope in business. Being your own boss is not always a straight run. There’s a lot to learn about the business, but there’s a whole lot more to learn about yourself! My story will be a message of hope, particularly for those who have taken the longer road to success. Don’t be discouraged. Keep leaning in. Now... as always... we need messages of love, joy and hope in this crazy world. And that’s what I want to be! More than anything! #mywhy So watch this space. This hope loving, surprisingly courageous, imperfect mumma isn’t done yet and I don’t think Gods done with me yet either! There’s lives to change and things to do.
