21.01.2022 Fall armyworm has been detected in QLD and is more dispersed than previously thought. Fall armyworm is an invasive pest that feeds on more than 350 plant ...species and impacts economically important cultivated grasses such as maize, rice, sorghum, sugarcane and wheat, as well as fruit and vegetable and cotton crops. It can travel quickly. In just under three years it has spread across two continents and to over 60 countries and can damage and destroy a wide variety of crops. Please undertake regular surveillance, as early detection is key to effective management of the pest. If you suspect fall armyworm, contract the Exotic Plant Pest Hotline (1800 084 881). APVMA has minor use permits in place for crops, which we're sending out to all AgForce members via email. Please monitor your inbox over the next 24 hours. Government and industry are working together to assist producers, and we will circulate more information as soon as it becomes available.
