08.01.2022 TGA advice for consumers in regards of hand sanitiser claim over COVID-19. This applies to any hand sanitiser including alcohol and ethanol based ones. Claims relating to COVID-19 Irrespective of whether your product is covered under the new Excluded Goods Determination, you cannot make a therapeutic use claim that directly or indirectly refers to coronavirus (COVID-19).... Hand sanitiser product not specified in the Determination If your hand sanitiser product is not specified in the Determination, you must comply with the therapeutic goods legislation (including the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code), and you must be careful not to make any COVID-19 specific advertising claims unless you have permission from the TGA to do so.

Conclusions: There was a significant decrease in transient S aureus on the fingertips of HCWs in the BZK hand sanitizer use week as compared with the 70% ethanol hand sanitizer use week.
