25.01.2022 So many of my clients are entrepreneurs who inspire the heck out of me. It takes a special kind of crazy, determined, passionate, tenacious person to start and run a business. To want to quit working 9-5 for the man and instead work for yourself 7 days a week - often to the point of exhaustion. To wake up thinking about your business and how to grow it and improve it, and to go to bed thinking about the same thing. To think outside the square when cash flow gets low. To keep going when logic might suggest something else. To triumph over every obstacle due to sheer grit. When I see my client's successes, my heart is full of celebration. Because it's so deserved. Therefore - happy entrepreneurs day to all of you legends. I've loved having you all as part of my own business journey, my fellow crazies.
24.01.2022 Just a post to say hi! I'm Michaela, the founder of Your Brand Story. I make videos for organisations and people who are having a positive or innovative impact in the world. The world is in a spot of trouble, and we all know it. So I only throw my creative energy into projects that make this world a better place somehow. I used to create videos under the business name "Black and White Marketing" until one client emphatically told me my videos are full of life and colour and ...my business name was all wrong. In fact I'd chosen the old name because as a consumer I don't like my time being wasted, and I like marketers to get to the damn point! But with some reflection, I realised I am all about storytelling. I was formerly an author and journalist; I am addicted to biographies and documentaries; I am a die hard fan of Richard Fidler's "Conversations". Tell someone a great story and it stays in their heart forever. If you have a great story to be told, you care about your clients with all your heart, you're creating something unique or innovative, or you're playing a role in improving the state of this planet, then we should probably work together. 23.01.2022 Planet Ark collaborated with us on a recent video production to showcase the new solar energy being used by Melbourne's Bayside College. Here is a version of the video we produced for Planet Ark's social channels. I was so impressed by these articulate students! And thank you to Planet Ark spokesperson Rebecca Gilling for her wonderful contribution. For more information about solar panels for schools go to Planet Ark Power or http://planetarkpower.com/schools/... 21.01.2022 It is always so rewarding working with Planet Ark Power to showcase the impact their solar power installations are having. Thanks to the great people at Bayside College in Melbourne who were interviewed for this clip. Videography: Your Brand Story... Drone footage: Rotorscope See more
21.01.2022 Thank you to Hisae from Planet Ark Power for these kind words.
21.01.2022 This week I have been on location filming with clean energy experts Planet Ark Power. Working with an organisation of this calibre, who are reducing CO2 emissions in a big way, is incredibly exciting. It aligns perfectly with my desire to exclusively work with organisations and entrepreneurs having a positive impact in the world. <3
20.01.2022 One of the first questions I ask my clients is: Who are you trying to target with this video? You need to publish your videos in the place where your customers consume information. And the length and format of the video will depend on where that is. Just publishing a video on your website isn't sufficient. I work with clients to ensure they have a strategy for driving traffic to their video, or sometimes using video to drive traffic to their website. Will you email the vi...deo link? Publish it on your Facebook channel? Use Facebook ads, or Google remarketing? Release a series of video snippets on Instagram? Find out more at https://yourbrandstory.com.au/
20.01.2022 Q: Why do you need to put yourself on a video to show your potential customers your personality and warmth? And why do you need to put your happy customers on camera to say in their own words what it was like working with you? A: Because both of these things build trust and credibility. In the words of Seth Godin: "Great stories are trusted. Trust is the scarcest resource weve got left. No one trusts anyone. People dont trust the beautiful women ordering vodka at the corner bar (theyre getting paid by the liquor company). People dont trust the spokespeople on commercials... And they certainly dont trust the companies that make pharmaceuticals... As a result, no marketer succeeds in telling a story unless (s)he has earned the credibility to tell that story."
20.01.2022 This has definitely been the case for several of my clients. They went from banging their head against a brick wall, to finally getting conversions, when they included a video in their email campaign. A video graphic is eye catching. It is tempting to click on. Video allows a person to easily absorb an amount of information they would never be bothered to read in your email or on your website. It gives your recipient a feel for who is actually sending the email, and whether they can be trusted. https://yourbrandstory.com.au/video-production-brisbane/
19.01.2022 People don't buy your product, they buy your story. Consumers align themselves with brands that share their view of the world. One of the best examples of this in my portfolio is the video I produced for Farmer Gregie, who took on the milk giants and created Scenic Rim 4Real Milk. In doing so, he saved the farm that had been in his family for generations. Now that's a heck of a good story. It happens to be delicious milk too, but that's beside the point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BrnMX-bQRQ
16.01.2022 I've recently been working on a video series for Fig Tree Pocket real estate agent Chrissie Krummel. Contrary to the stereotype for real estate agents, Chrissie is warm, genuine and incredibly ethical. Video is the perfect way to showcase these traits, in a way a brochure never could achieve! If you want help telling your brand's story, email me on [email protected]
15.01.2022 Thank you so much to Emma from Soul Stirring Branding for this awesome feedback: I feel so lucky to have worked with Michaela because not only are the quality of her videos second to none, but she has this special ability of being able to set everyone at ease, making what could be an intimidating process stress-free and even fun! This is an incredibly crucial factor in which videographer you pick to work with because it is imperative you make the most out of the time you spe...nd shooting and that you feel confident that youre coming across authentically and naturally instead of forced and self-conscious. As well as filming myself, she interviewed several of my clients and her professionalism, patience and care when directing them was so appreciated. Michaela took the time to really understand my business and the tone I was trying to convey. This carried through into every decision she made from supporting me to write the script in the best possible way, her creative ideas as we were shooting, the music choices and her editing process. No matter how many times I watch my videos back I get a big smile on my face because I feel like it is representing my business in the best possible way. 15.01.2022 {Part 2} So after 24 hours to film and edit an intro video for The Warehouse Brisbane to show at their Wedding Showcase + Launch Party, I headed back to the venue to film the party itself! I was so pleased with how the intro video looked when projected onto the exposed brick walls in the venue. Kudos to the team from The Warehouse who knew the power of using video to tell your brand's story. So much more engaging than formal speeches! See more of my work at https://yourbrandstory.com.au
15.01.2022 {Part 1} I love a challenge! Last week I had 24 hours to film and edit a 2-min video to be shown at the launch party for brand new Brisbane wedding venue The Warehouse Brisbane. My client wanted to project a video on to the venue's internal brick wall as a more interesting way to tell their story to guests than a formal speech. It looked amazing on the bricks!

15.01.2022 The same applies for video storytelling. It's not just about your product's features, it is about the emotional benefits; the way your product makes your customers feel.
15.01.2022 It was a pleasure working with the great people from Planet Ark Power again on this case study video. We wanted to showcase the company's capabilities in working with a national aged care provider. We produced this longer case study for the company's website, as well as some shorter clips with subtitles, better suited for social media. More videos at https://yourbrandstory.com.au
13.01.2022 {What are the emotional reasons people buy your product?} I like buying independent milk labels because I feel good when I support farmers to get a fair price. I like buying eco-friendly detergent because I don't want to harm ocean animals and I am proud that I care about the state of our world. I know I bang on about emotions a lot but thats for a good reason! In a world gone mad with consumer choice, the way to connect with potential clients is through the heart! That is ...where the story of your brand matters. Not your sales pitch, your story. The heart of what you do. The impact you have. The thing you provide that no one else can. Here are some questions to get you thinking about your brands story: What is your niche? Your unique selling point that makes your clients want to hug you with thanks? WHY do you love doing what you do? What piece of positive feedback do you receive over and over again from customers? How do you make them feel when they use your product or service? Video is obviously a powerful way to tell your story. But professional photography, good quality graphic design and skillful copy all combine to make it clear to a potential client that you are just the person / business they have been looking for. 13.01.2022 {CASE STUDY VIDEO / TESTIMONIAL VIDEO} I absolutely love working with organisations who are doing their bit to ensure a sustainable future for humans on planet Earth. I recently produced this case study video with Planet Ark Power - a leading clean energy engineering company. In an industry like solar, where there is a lot of competition, a video can help you to be heard through all of the noise. ... * Thanks to Matthew Flinders Anglican College for being great people and making this project run so smoothly! * Drone footage thanks to Paul Spurling, Reel Edge Media Pty Ltd
12.01.2022 A farming family takes on the milk giants - and consumers can't get enough of it! Passionate rebel causes are always close to my heart. Gosh I loved creating the "Our Story" video for 4Real Milk when it launched. View their story and more at https://yourbrandstory.com.au/portfolio
12.01.2022 In addition to a 2-minute website case study video, I made some shorter snippets for Planet Ark Power's social media channels, with subtitles. More videos: https://yourbrandstory.com.au #videoproductionbrisbane #yourbrandstorybrisbane
12.01.2022 Throwback to this delightful project I worked on a few years ago when the Indooroopilly Men's Shed was brand new. The local coucillor wanted to use video to promote the new facility to local men. It was a really important initiative for men's mental health so it was a great feeling to be involved. And I ended up with a carved wooden bowl at the end of the production which I still use to this day! On chatting with the existing shed members, I discovered it was usually wives and sisters who were referring new members, so we made sure to include the female perspective in this promotional video too. 12.01.2022 How do blind people use computers? Well, they do it with the help of a "screen reader" - a computerised voice reading what is on the screen. The problem is that screen readers have tended to be expensive, and many of the world's poorest blind people were unable to access employment and education because of this barrier. I am proud to say that one of my earliest videos was telling the story of Brisbane-based non-profit NV Access, whose FREE screen reader has changed the lives of people around the world. Although I was in the early stages of my video career and the production values weren't as slick as they are now, this video has gone on to be my most viewed production ever, with over 120,000 views to date.
11.01.2022 One of my most rewarding and challenging projects was creating a 10-minute introductory video for future residents of a Gold Coast alcohol and drug rehab run by Lives Lived Well. We wanted staff and current residents to explain how the centre operated so that people would know what to expect - from rules, to sleeping arrangements, to food, to the program itself. Doing all of this while only using the voices of residents (to protect their privacy) created the challenge of needing many visuals to tell the story. My favourite part of the video series was when I asked residents to describe the program in one word or phrase. A second chance at life was the one that gave me goosebumps. 11.01.2022 One of my favourite Seth Godin quotes. Consumers these days don't buy your service, they're buying into your brand's story. They want to align themselves with brands that reflect their worldview. #YourBrandStory #VideoProductionBrisbane
09.01.2022 Throw back to 2015 when I made this video for The Fundraising Whisperer, an organisation which had changed the face of school and club fundraising in Australia. To mark the organisation's 10-year anniversary we created an "Our Story" video which talked about the triumphant highs, and heartbreaking lows, of their journey so far.
07.01.2022 Sooo much fun working on a series of video clips for the team at Trademark Style to roll out on their social media channels. The team offer branding photo shoots with a fashion stylist, hair, makeup and photography. It all happens in a two-hour session that is full of the positive, creative energy of this all-female team.
05.01.2022 I found this stat really interesting, as it quantifies the experience of my clients who have used video as an alternative to cold calling, or mailing a brochure to a cold lead. Video has brought these clients a far higher success rate in converting cold leads to warm ones. Of course, video is just one step in the process. You also need to wow your potential lead with a user-friendly website with appropriate calls to action, and excellent customer service when the lead makes c...ontact with you. And then its all about follow up, follow up, follow up. People forget you exist because of the barrage of information they receive each day. Gently reminding them you are out there and offering to provide assistance or helpful information will often get the ball rolling again. If your leads aren't converting, you need to examine which link in this chain is broken. The best video or website in the world won't be any good if you're slow to return phone calls or answer enquiry emails. Or if you're not following up with people a number of times after their first contact with you.
05.01.2022 More marketing wisdom from Seth Godin. In the first world we are privileged to have everything we need. So the story of your product or service needs to connect with peoples emotions and perhaps their hopes and dreams. What do your clients feel when they work with you, or when they buy your products? Are you talking about this emotional benefit in your marketing? https://yourbrandstory.com.au

04.01.2022 YES! Is this your approach to business?
03.01.2022 Normally a real estate agent wouldnt be a good fit for my business. But I made an exception for Chrissie Krummel, because I knew her reputation as a highly ethical, trustworthy agent who cares a heck of a lot about her clients' results. The problem for a real estate agent though is that no one trusts you! Video was the perfect way to showcase Chrissies warmth and trustworthiness.
03.01.2022 I loved creating video content with family-run Plant Tiles Australia!
01.01.2022 Do you need to pitch your service/product to other businesses? {CASE STUDY} TAFE Qld were asking businesses to provide work experience placements for students from diverse backgrounds. They were finding print materials and cold calls alone weren't working. So, a couple of years ago I produced a video showing the positive impact the program has on both the workplace and the students. By sending the video to businesses, TAFE greatly increased the number of placements on offer. Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tp55MQ2fhwY
