24.01.2022 Having an approved NDIS plan and gaining the support funds that you or your family member require is an enormous achievement and you should take a moment to pat yourself on the back and also thank all the support individuals across your medical, therapy, care and NDIS planning team that helped you to achieve that task. This is the time where teamwork matters the most. Your next step is to make contact with your support team and to negotiate what will be your service agreemen...t based on your needs for support and also the funds that were allocated to achieve this. Sometimes you may have limits in what you planned due to funds being short. Start by working with what you have - and then work to develop a specific program with your therapy team for your next plan. 23.01.2022 NDIS PLANS and SERVICE AGREEMENTS: Some families may have made their way through their planning meetings and have now been given their NDIS plans. The next step is booking your appointment to plan your SERVICE AGREEMENT which then enables you to work with your therapy team to determine what is specifically available and what your child may need based on their clinical-support picture. The service agreement enables you to book ahead - and secure your spot in the busy schedu...le for individual therapy, group therapy and Training Workshops. You will need to also have an idea of what you plan to attend across your other therapies, Care and Social Participation - so that you can develop a team based approach to reaching your goals. You want to be the family that gets an A+ for the undertaking of this first year so that you transition across into year two with a GREEN LIGHT and more funding support. Many families will need years of support to help their children through their developmental years and education pathway. 13.01.2022 CHOOSING YOUR TEAM: Just like selecting your netball team - it is important that you consider carefully who will be the valuable people that you will take forward on your journey for you or your child. You need to be clear of what your values are - and what skills you are needing to undertake your GOALS. Are you looking for someone who can be caring and thoughtful, someone is is task driven and dedicated to results, someone who is skilled at motivation and inspiration, some...one who is awesome at coordinating a complex plan---or even someone who can be innovative in solving the toughest problems. In your first NDIS Plan year, one of your first goals is MEET and GREET - dating your team and seeing if these people are the stayers and are up to the job for the short or long haul. We all know how important the first stage of gaining FUNDS are in your success story - but establishing the best team for your specific job ahead of you is vital to your success. Also remember that your care and therapy team, whilst they are paid for their service, if they are giving you kindness-and additional wonderful support---that's the bit they do because of who they are. Therapists, care team and families are all in the same boat paddling together so by making every effort to make it a happy boat will ensure your experence is harmonious as well. See more
