23.01.2022 PERINATAL DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY WEEK || With many expecting and new parents struggling due to COVID-19, it’s critical that we work together to support families facing mental health challenges at this time Perinatal mental illnesses like anxiety and depression are common and can be serious. One in five expecting or new mothers and one in ten expecting or new fathers will experience anxiety and/or depression, affecting around 100,000 families across Australia every year. It’s... important for expecting and new parents who are worried about their emotional and mental wellbeing to seek support. They can speak with a trusted health professional such as a doctor or family health nurse, or call PANDA’s free National Perinatal Mental Health Helpline. PANDA’s National Perinatal Mental Health Helpline 1300 726 306 9am 7.30pm Mon Friday (AEST/AEDT). The Helpline is also open from now until the end of February 2021 on Saturdays 9am 7.30pm. https://www.panda.org.au #pandaweek2020 #tellsomeonewhocares #perinataldepressionandandanxiety #support #generalpractice #yourfamilydoctors

21.01.2022 Dr Elly and Dr Georgia popped into the Star 104.5 FM studios over the weekend to talk Cancer for Customs 4 Cancer. As GP’s, we follow patients through their cancer journey from screening tests, to diagnosis, and provide support during and after treatment. We see how important screening and early detection of cancer is, and the advances in research and treatment that have been made. This would not be possible without the wonderful fundraising efforts of the community and CUST...OMS4CANCER are not only passionate about raising $1 million for the Cancer Council Australia but also spreading the health message out there too. Don’t delay your cancer screening! 20.01.2022 HAPPY COVID FRIENDLY HALLOWEEN || NSW Health supports individuals participating in COVID-safe Halloween celebrations, providing levels of community transmission remain low and participants follow current rules when gathering together. Help us stop the spread this Halloween. COVID-safe tips if you plan to trick-or-treat NSW Health recommends: * If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 this Halloween, stay home and give trick-or-treating a miss this year. Get tested immed...iately * Keep it local by staying in your suburb rather than going to well-known treat streets that attract crowds * Celebrate outside, don’t go to people’s front door * Stay in small household groups rather than groups of young people together. Remember, no more than 30 people can gather outside in a public place * Stay 1.5 meters away from people you don’t live with * Only take treats that are individually wrapped. * Don’t share your treats with others from different households * Don’t share costumes or costume face masks * Carry hand sanitiser with you and use it often, especially after touching common surfaces.
