25.01.2022 Small business love this week is for Neenys Playhouse Neenys has been through a lot this year (like all of us), but they have been constantly doing what they can for the families of the Highlands to make life a little better and fun (while being COVID safe of course!) for our children. We love supporting Neenys, they have provided our own children with many hours of active fun over the years, and if you’re looking for something to do with your kids, (and if you haven’t been before) check out Neenys! And if you have been before, maybe it’s time for another visit soon?!

24.01.2022 Small business Monday Each Monday we are going to start featuring the talents of local small family friendly businesses, as our way of showing our support and gratitude to the community in the Southern Highlands. Today’s love has to go to the very talented Bundy Bickies... who make these totally delicious bickies! Seriously, the photo doesn’t do these bikkies any justice- they are made with love, come in a variety of amazing flavours, are perfectly balanced in flavour and are so delicious that they have become a regular treat to put on top of birthday cakes whenever someone in our family has a birthday. And, while picking up my most recent order, I was told that they are also freezable so that you don’t have to eat them all straight away (try telling my kids that ). They also do a variety of other biscuits too (including gluten free), which are very delicious too!! 19.01.2022 Today’s small business love must go to Play-Make-Believe: drama and art workshops for kids This business has had to get creative (pardon the pun) this year due to COVID, so when I saw that they were creating Spring School Holiday art boxes I knew both my daughters would love it, and they truly loved it! ... Lots of our school holiday was spent at home creating using the activities and materials in their boxes, we still have activities left to do, but these boxes have inspired both my daughters to explore, create and be proud of what they can achieve. Thankyou for your wonderful boxes! We definitely hope you do something similar again, and I highly recommend other families give them a like and follow to stay up to date for more of their wonderful experiences and support this wonderful, local, family friendly business.

Your Family Village gives Katie a wonderful opportunity to combine her background, skills and passions to be able to help others.... Katie is offering a range of services that can help you and your family, including home organising, child minding, meal preparing and errand running. Katie is organised, thorough and loves helping! 11.01.2022 I know, I know, it’s been far too long between posts, I know and I am sorry! However, we haven’t just been twiddling our thumbs or watching the rain we have been busy behind the scenes making some big changes to our website! While some of the improvements are still under construction, you are more than welcome to pop over to the site and have a little look. ... What we have done, is we have put the choice in your hands. We know how much trust is involved in bringing a stranger into your home, it’s one of our core philosophy’s here at Your Family Village, and we needed to be able to implement that in the way we do things. So now, you can see what services we offer, who offers them (and their fees) and when they are best available. You can read all about each Helper to get to know who they are, their skills and their background too. AND as part of our changes, so that you get the right person for you and your Family, our new system is not a booking confirmation, but rather an opportunity to engage with a particular Helper and to see if they are what you are looking for. We don’t want you to feel ‘locked in’ with someone if they aren’t the right someone. Each family is different and therefore have unique needs. 09.01.2022 So yesterday my eldest daughter turned 11, and this post for me is perfect for how I’m feeling. I am so proud of the person she is, and can’t wait to see who she becomes as she travels on her own path, however there is still always that feeling that she is growing up so fast and I wish she could stay as she is, (I know that’s not humanly possible). They sound like so much fun and come with the equipment needed for hours of at home, boredom busting, creative fun

06.01.2022 For any families who may be struggling at the moment, Bowral Uniting Church has a free food service. The hampers contain fresh fruit and veg that have been saved from going to landfill, the volunteers do a wonderful job making everyone feel welcome, so please feel welcome to pop along tomorrow or Wednesday from 10am-1pm and check it out!

05.01.2022 So today is a pretty special day, today marks one whole year of Your Family Village providing help and support to families in the Highlands. It was one whole year ago today that our first Helper went to our first booking (a booking we had received before we had even officially launched!). I had been so nervous about letting my business go into the world, so I am truly grateful to that first family- they gave me the confidence I needed. ... It’s been an interesting year, I’ve learnt so much, grown, cried, laughed, and feel so much joy knowing that each and every day our Helpers are out there working to make a difference. There are still big goals for Your Family Village to achieve in the next year, but for tonight I’m taking a moment to thank everyone who has been on this journey with us- thankyou- to the Helpers who believe in what we do and exceed my expectations, to the families who have trusted us and asked us for help, for my friends and family who are always supportive (through both the highs and the lows). Thanks

And while for some people that means the weekend is the time to relax, reconnect and recharge, however for a lot of families at the moment this isn’t the case with so many people struggling with mental health issues, domestic violence, job security, financial concerns and stress about what tomorrow may bring. There are services out there that can help and that you can reach out to. If you’re feeling stuck we have contacts and connections to local organisations ...too. And if you need help with the practical load then we can help you and your family with practical help such as running errands, going shopping for you, housekeeping and more.
