24.01.2022 A collection of Summer bounty! The pumpkin is a Diggers heritage called Galeux D'Eysines weighing in at 6.5kg.Love the 'warts'which make it quiet distinctive! Along side of the pumpkin is Mountain Painted corn, black pasionfruit and home grown Pink Lady apples... YUM!

07.01.2022 I hope all you folks out there are keeping an eye on your fruit tree's activities..... Buds are starting to swell and some flowers have burst into life a couple of weeks earlier than expected in and around Metro Melbourne. For all stone fruit growers.. at bud swell spray your trees with Bordeaux spray (a combo of hydrated lime and copper sulphate full detail see my blog page https://www.yourgreencompanion.com.au//grow-your-blog-comm) to prevent leaf curl. Of course good air flow must circulate through and around the tree to reduce chance in the first place. I was lucky over the weekend to plant 6 apple trees at our local community garden. 02.01.2022 It's a good time of year to make compost for the upcoming summer season. This one was made using horse/stable manure and straw. You need a minimum of 1 metre cubed to get the compost real hot to cook off any weed seeds lurking in amongst it! At the bottom is used sticks and small branches to lift it up a touch and allow air in so it can breathe.
