18.01.2022 #Repost @sahealth_ with @get_repost THROWBACK THURSDAY Here are members of the Quarantine staff at Adelaide Hospital in 1919, and a look at the quarantine setup in Adelaide during the Spanish Flu outbreak.... Quarantine for returned travellers looked a bit different, with a camp set up near the River Torrens. While many were keen to leave, others made the most of it with writing and poetry competitions, daily cricket and tea parties. The Spanish flu resulted in 540 deaths in South Australia, which would equate to around 15,000 in our current population. Quarantine isn’t the most fun time, but it has been crucial in keeping our COVID-19 case numbers low. Well done SA! @statelibrarysa B 60866 and PRG 1638/2/99
