23.01.2022 An oldie, but a goodie. Often we’re too caught up just making it through the day/week/month... Commit to yourself, you’re worth it. Pay yourself FIRST!... All my income goes straight into my online saving account and then I allocate to other transaction accounts to meet my predicted necessity and fun spending.

20.01.2022 How to sort your life...one tiny step at a time! I love this article because anything is 'doable' when you break it down to "making small changes and improvements every day". The theory is:... "If you get one percent better each day for one year, you'll end up 37 times better by the time you’re done." What's can you incrementally change each day?: Sorting paperwork? Sorting the pantry? Sorting your bank accounts? Sorting your spending? Sorting your debt repayments? ...?

18.01.2022 Working From Home ?? The ATO will now accept a TEMPORARY shortcut method of calculating WFH expenses for the period starting 1 March 2020 until at least 30 June 2020. There are actually 3 ways you can choose to calculate your additional running expenses i.e. WFH expenses:... 1 shortcut method (TEMPORARY method) claim a rate of 80 cents per work hour for all additional running expenses. 2 fixed rate method claim all of these: a rate of 52 cents per work hour for heating, cooling, lighting, cleaning and the decline in value of office furniture, the work-related portion of your actual costs of phone and internet expenses, computer consumables, stationery, and the work-related portion of the decline in value of a computer, laptop or similar device. 3 actual cost method claim the actual work-related portion of all your running expenses, which you need to calculate on a reasonable basis. KEY TIP: If you've never claimed WFH expenses before you'll NEED to keep records e.g. for the shortcut method the ATO say you must keep a record of the number of hours you have worked from home as a result of COVID-19. Examples are timesheets, diary notes or rosters. For more information, visit ato.gov.au/home or speak to a registered tax professional.

16.01.2022 I that phrase - It’s sooooo much better than a ‘used ’ or a ‘second hand ’ this or that... Reframing has a massive positive benefit to your mental state. Here’s a challenge for the rest of the holidays and even 2021:... if you desperately need xxxx -make an effort to buy one that’s being sold after having served someone else well. 15.01.2022 Need a gift & can’t get to the shops - regift - good or bad? there’s etiquette when it comes to regifting: regift thoughtfully - e.g. don’t give someone a candle if you’re not sure they would like or want it. be authentic - if you’re giving something because you know they’d appreciate it, then let them know how you got the gift - don’t pretend that you shopped for them. ... Never regift handmade, used, or easily identifiable gifts or goods that don’t have their original packaging. 13.01.2022 The beauty of saving tips is that they rarely change ;) it all comes back to how you implement. Some great ideas collated by Choice Mag. How many will you work through this month? This month I'm looking at my energy provider, last month I changed my Green Slip CTP provider...and I'm always on the lookout for cheap petrol with the MotorMouth App .

11.01.2022 This image reminded me of a dream I used to have as a kid. There’d be all these coins on the ground in the cul-de-sac, and I would be raking them up into a big pile...desperately trying to reach as many as I could. Saving for a rainy day is important, but feeling anxious while saving is never a great feeling. ... Stop feeling anxious by setting 3 clear dollar hurdles. Once you clear your first - celebrate ... see you can save!!! Jumped over the second? - celebrate ...wooo hooo 2/3 or the way there!!! Flown over the third? - celebrate YOU. DID. IT. Now stop and recalibrate. You’ve achieved something amazing . Ask yourself...what’s next? And go get it!!! You can do this.

11.01.2022 What's your 'why'? Mine is to be financially free, so I can choose how I spend my time...

09.01.2022 A simple money habit to start - take out a gold coin every morning as you check for... keys , money , phone before you leave . 06.01.2022 My regular pick me up has become a morning walk What’s yours? Stay healthy & stay safe

05.01.2022 Ok, so spending money on treats is not really an emergency...though my little nephews may beg to differ What's the purpose of a emergency fund/rainy day account/slush fund/freedom account...and how much is enough? Essentially it's an account that you can call on to cover emergency spending. ... When people start saving for an emergency fund they typically use a 'rule of thumb' of approx 3-6mths worth of income . Or...you could take another approach and break emergency spending into 2 categories which will give you a mid-way milestone to hit and celebrate: 1 Unexpected expenses - e.g. hot water system has blown, you need urgent car or home repairs. What are some of the items that fall into this category that you could estimate? 2 Unexpected income loss - where become unemployed, or are off work due to accident or illness and are waiting for insurance to kick in. How stable is your job? How long does it typically take a person of your skills and age to find a new job? How long is your waiting period on any income protection insurance you have? How much sick leave do you have? What are your absolute necessities to live and how much do they cost? Whichever method you choose to estimate the size of your emergency cushion you'll need to set up a savings plan to reach it. Last December I put in place my own emergency savings plan - it was an automatic deposit into an online savings account. I've hit my target and now feel much more in control. Everyone's lives and situation is different, but its important to start somewhere and work your way up to a solid emergency buffer amount. I may take you less than a year or more - there is no 'right' timeline for this. What are you waiting for? You deserve it! You deserve piece of mind. You deserve to put yourself first. You deserve to start sorting your life so you can start to focus on the things that bring you joy - with a mind that is clear and free of niggling doubts. #saving #yourlifesorted

02.01.2022 Saving, saving, oh how to save? Take a read to see how you can save water - not only helps all of the community, but also your back pocket. This month we've added a bucket in the shower to catch all of the cold water before it turns hot, and one in the kitchen sink to catch all our rinses.

01.01.2022 This article is one for the introverts (#me). As it feels like we're STILL in the month of MARCH the article crystallized for me that: being alone is a state of living i.e. scheduling "me time" being lonely is an emotional and psychological response to a situation... The article also shares some great ideas on how to be alone. xx

01.01.2022 From little things big things grow Some home staples we buy that are supermarket brands NOT name brands - flour, sugar, cling wrap, aluminium foil, nuts , glass cleaner... Reading it back it’s such a random bunch ;) ... It all comes down to what works for you and your household Remember it’s not the amount of saving that counts when you start - it’s simply the habit of finding a better deal What do you buy that's not a name brand to save some money?
