First up we have... Western Sydney Academy of Sport (WSAS)! ... WSAS was established in 2004 and after more than 15 years of successful operation, has provided over 2,650 scholarship opportunities to talented young athletes. The Academys catchment includes 7 Local Government Areas in Western Sydney and a total population of some 1.8 million people, providing a rich vein of talented young sports people who can take advantage of Academys holistic development programs. The Academy currently offers scholarships across 11 programs, these include AFL Junior Boys & Girls, AFL Senior Girls, Canoe Slalom, Cycling, Golf, Lone Star, Netball, Netball Umpiring, Rowing, Softball and Triathlon. In this years Your Local Club Academy Games, 84 athletes are representing the Western Sydney Academy across the sports of Golf, Netball, AFL Girls, Triathlon and Softball - GOODLUCK WSAS! #AG2020

Friday 3rd April... 5:00pm - 6:30pm PCYC Newcastle, Broadmeadow (directly across from the Opening Ceremony venue) Dr. Juanita Weissensteiner, Principle Advisor of Talent Pathways at the Office of Sport will be joined by Newcastle Sports Medicine Physiotherapist Tim Schneider & Hunter Academy of Sport's in-house Sports Psychologist Fiona McCarthy on a Sports Pathways Panel covering topics such as athlete care, pathway and talent recognition, load management and much more. 18.01.2022 The Regional Academies of Sport in conjunction with event host, Hunter Academy of Sport, regret to advise that under the Australian Government COVID-19 directive restricting all public gatherings of more than 500 people, the 2020 Your Local Club Academy Games has been cancelled. This includes the associated basketball tournament that had previously been moved to June. The health and welfare of our athletes, families and staff is always our number one priority. Due to the esc...alating impact of the COVID-19 and the uncertainty surrounding the rapidly changing situation, the Regional Academies made the difficult collective decision to cancel its showcase annual event planned for the Hunter Region on April 3rd-5th 2020. We would like to acknowledge our long-term partners, the Office of Sport and Your local club, for their continued support. Special thanks should also go to our regional partners for this years event including City of Newcastle Lake Macquarie City Council, Newcastle Herald and NBN Television. We would like to take this opportunity to announce the dates for the 2021 and 2022 Your Local Club Academy Games; April 16-18th 2021 Hunter Region April 8-10th 2022 Host Region TBC. #AG2020

South East Sports Academy (SESA) SESA is a new Regional Academy of Sport providing development opportunities for talented athletes and coaches in the South East area of NSW. ... SESAs boundaries are aligned with the Canberra Region Joint Organisation of Councils, which is located to the immediate north, east and south of the Australian Capital Territory. It covers the NSW local government areas of: Bega Valley; Snowy Monaro; Eurobodalla; Queanbeyan-Palerang; Goulburn-Mulwaree; Yass Valley; Upper Lachlan and Hilltops. SESA sport programs are aligned to National Sport Organisation pathways and endorsed by the relevant State Sporting Organisation. Athletes receive holistic programs that include technical and skill development, physical preparation and personal development components. SESA will be participating in Netball, Womens AFL & Golf with a total of 43 athletes in attendance - GOODLUCK SESA! #AG2020

10.01.2022 ACADEMY PROFILE Next up we have... Illawarra Academy of Sport (IAS)! IAS was the first Regional Academy of Sport established in 1985 and since that time has provided scholarships to more than 6150 local athletes. ... The Academy operates through the Illawarras geographic region comprising the five local government areas of: Kiama, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven, Wingecarribee and Wollongong. Illawarra has a rich history in developing and elevating athletes to higher representative honours, with the Academy a significant vehicle in the process through focusing on the holistic development of athletes. IAS has produced 15 Olympians, 20 Commonwealth Games Representatives, 11 World Champions and 75 Senior National Team Representatives over the past three decades. At the 2020 Your Local Club Academy Games, IAS will have over 110 athletes, coaches and staff across the sports of AFL, Golf, Hockey, Netball, and Triathlon - GOODLUCK IAS! #AG2020

05.01.2022 With the media coverage currently being aired regarding the developing impact of COVID-19, the Hunter Academy of Sport as hosts of the 2020 Your Local Club Academy Games believe it is important to provide our athletes, coaches, staff, volunteers, families & supporters an update on our response for major events. To date we have not been directly impacted and will continue to monitor this evolving health threat and the implications for our events, following directives provided ...to us by NSW Health, Office of Sport and the Australian Government Department of Health. We will be reinforcing to anyone on the ground throughout the duration of our event the importance of good hygiene as the best prevention to the spread of any virus: Do not share water bottles or sweat towels Wash your hands regularly with soap or hand sanitizer. Avoid rubbing / touching your eyes with unwashed hands. If you need to sneeze, sneeze into your elbow. We would like to reinforce to all attendees the importance of adhering to travel guidelines and associated self-quarantine expectations especially if you or a family member has been exposed.
