06.01.2022 Rich kids get to attend 'the best' schools and can afford tutoring. The less privileged are not so lucky. In 2007 the Howard government provided funding for tutoring to assist all students who fell below the National benchmarks in literacy and or numeracy. An excellent initiative that enabled thousands of students to improve their learning. Perhaps its time to revisit government support to help overcome the disadvantage some students have both in a financial sense, ie can't afford tutoring, and disadvantage because they continue to struggle to achieve acceptable academic standards in literacy and or numeracy.
