23.01.2022 PALM TREES! that is all. #palmtrees #lookup #green #palm #tropical #canyouclimbit #harderthanitlooks #monkey #travrl #coconut #crazylikeacoconut #covid #adventure #timetorelax #relax #bluesky #aboveitall #yournextepicadventure #staysalty #wherewillyougo

20.01.2022 Today I joined Todd for a quick catch up today at the Your Mates Brewhouse to discuss local reefs, the importance of supporting local environmentally conscious businesses, and Plastic Free July. Oh, and we talked ALOT about Megaladon. Not kidding. All in support of Reef Check Australia Ambassadors and supporters; Your Mates Brewery as a part of Crafting a Circular Economy - conversation series - episode 2 tomorrow night at 7.30pm. (well, maybe not the megalodon part, but stay... tuned for that). I love supporting the local community, and I honestly believe there is no one on the coast who better represents the idea of a bunch of mates, trying their best to make the world a better place, then the crew at Your Mates Brewing Co. I believe that everyone has a role to play in protecting our reefs and oceans, and that the small, daily decisions you make all add up to create big changes. Its important to support local, environmentally conscious businesses who put people and the planet first, to show them we support their efforts. Businesses like Your Mates Brewery who embrace change with gusto. That explore new ways of doing things, like micro gardens to help with food produce and helping local community groups by letting them use their space. I LOVE that the guys got super excited about installing solar panels to power their business. The excitement they have in sharing these ideas is contagious and its nice to see proof of them trying to do their part for the planet. Such behaviours makes me want to support them even more! So after today, I would like to issue a challenge for everyone to make one change in your daily habits. Starting today. Something simple that you can start immediately. A habit that will continue into next week, month year etc. Something that you can maintain for the long term, that will have real, tangible benefits to the planet. From a business perspective, it might be to take a look at how your own business is operating, and to see what you can adjust in the next few months, such as removal of plastic packaging. Or, utlising more local suppliers, or seasonal foods, or moving towards zero carbon or carbon neutral options. On a more personal or individual basis, it might be to simply start learning more about how your decisions impact the world around us. Or starting with saying no to single use plastics, whilst also moving towards larger decisions where possible and practical. We all have to start somewhere. Why not start today? Keen to find out more? Check out the link below and tune in tomorrow! #togetherforouroceans #getinvolved #circulareconomy #letsdoitdifferent

19.01.2022 Yesterday was World Oceans Day. To me, it's not just another day to celebrate. It's an opportunity to showcase what the ocean means to me. The serious stuff and the fun stuff. I love that I get to spend at least some of my working life in the water, monitoring for signs of reef health, and engaging community, students, businesses, community groups and councils in better understanding, appreciating and protecting our local coastal and marine habitats. ... This video produced by our partner in the NQLD region showcases just some of the awesome, dedicated and enthusiastic humans doing their part to help our oceans. #allhandsondeck #togetherforouroceans #volunteertoprotect #reefcheckaustralia

19.01.2022 Wow! How cool is this!

17.01.2022 You, me and the sea. Is there anything better than a day in the sun sand and surf with a friend or loved one? In Australia, the lockdown regulations have been lifted, just a little. Enough to lift people's spirits and think about the places they might like to visit when travel is possible again.... It might be a ways off, but there is always time to plan. So. Where would you go if you could go anywhere? #adventurethatislife #alwaysgo #exploreeverything #exploreeverywhere #finditliveit #keepexploring #keepitwild #letsgosomewhere #liveauthentic #welivetoexplore #meettheworld #adventurespirit #takemoreadventures #inspiringwanderers #traveltogether #friends #goodtimes #laughteristhebestmedicine #smilesfordays #laughuntilyourcheekshurt #yournextepicadventure #epicadventures #uniqueexperiences #outoftheordinary #traveldonedifferently #creatingconnections #wearetravel #globaltravel #experiencearchitects #whatsyourhappyplace

17.01.2022 WHAT DO YOU SEE? Some say stormy days. Some choose to stay inside when the weather hits. I see colour. I see power. I see the opportunity to dance in the rain.... There is no good or bad. Just experiences.

14.01.2022 Its no secret. I LOOOOVE whale sharks. I even spent a while in Mozambique just hanging out with them. Like months. I have been addicted ever since. I also made a variety of super cool science buddies whilst over there. Two such amazing humans are Simon and Chris. Come celebrate whale sharks by listening in and having a chat! Link below...

14.01.2022 The people you meet are part of the adventure. These beautiful souls offered kindness and smiles as well as EPIC service. 10.01.2022 Yournextepicadventure works with many of the Reef Check Australia volunteers. They are an amazing group of people with a wide and varied background with one key element uniting them all together: a true passion for the ocean. Added bonus: you get to learn from leaders in their fields, make amazing new friends, and its a great opportunity to give back. Sounds like you? Interested in volunteering? Not for profit groups rely heavily on volunteers. Get involved, and help make ...the world a better place. This article gives a little insight as to how better engage and retain volunteers, whilst also learning more about yourself. https://www.linkedin.com//engaging-retaining-those-elusive

08.01.2022 THE WORLD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS. Last month, we showcased a podcast that we thought should be on people's radars. The very next day, a friend connected me with the podcast hosts saying, you should all meet! And just like that, I was to be the next guest. I was supposed to talk about reefs; what they are, what their health is like, and what we have found this year... I spent hours crafting the conversation topics. About my journey with Reef Check Australia, about marine ...science and how everyone can do their part to help protect their reefs and oceans. But none of that was what we ended up discussing. Once again a ‘squirrel’ appeared and took us all down a side track we didn’t even realise was there. So make sure you check out this podcast episode! But maybe make sure you are not eating lunch. We talk about parasites and bacteria, how peanut butter is a great breeding ground for Salmonella, and discuss the ‘scotch tape test’. Reefs, whale sharks, and firewalking also make the topic list. So if you want to be entertained for a little while and potentially have a giggle or two, then make sure to listen in! #legit #youcanttakemeanywhere #citizenscience #togetherforouroceans #donteatpeanutbutter #lifelesson #idoscience

07.01.2022 Alrighty. For the Queenslanders amongst us, we have a quick sailing adventure coming up. Two trips: both in October. 12-16, and 19-23. Keen for either of them, let me know! Lady Elliot Island and Lady Musgrave, exiting Bundaberg. Please note this is a snorkel and free dive trip only. Exciting!

03.01.2022 I remember the last time I climbed a palm tree. How about you? Mine was just last year, with a bunch of friends. We had made our way to the end of the beach to watch the sunset and spent most of our time trying to get the whole group onto the same tree. One of a million memories made on this particular EPIC adventure. Cheers team!
