23.01.2022 #COUNCILUPDATE The Premier announced yesterday that the southern part of the Northern Beaches from midnight last night are considered part of Greater Sydney in terms of restrictions. A decision regarding the northern part will be made on the 9 January 2021. Given the outstanding efforts of Health, our community and local businesses, it is anticipated that the northern part of the Northern Beaches will have the restrictions removed then. There were 7 cases of community transm...ission, none in the Northern Beaches. Face masks will be compulsory in certain indoor settings, including shopping, public transport, entertainment, cinema, hair and beauty, gaming, staff in hospitality. There is a $200 fine for non compliance. Work has commenced to open up the Council services and facilities in the southern part of the Northern Beaches. This includes 5 libraries, customer services, 2 aquatic centres, visitors information centre, vacation care, community centres, Glen Street, Manly Art Gallery, etc. Service NSW QR codes will be used and face masks utilised by customer facing indoor staff (Council is seeking clarification from Health if this applies to Child Care staff and others). Preparations are also being made to open up services and facilities in the northern part of the Northern Beaches in anticipation of restrictions being eased on 9 January. This includes preparation for the markets at Mona Vale on 10 January 2021. Outdoor recreation facilities including playgrounds, skate parks, ocean and harbour pools, etc, were opened last week in accordance with Health Orders. Council completed approximately 7,400 well-being calls to our vulnerable community and library members over 70 In consultation with our Chambers of Commerce, a business concierge service is being established to assist our local businesses to access the support and programs offered by Federal, State and Council. Council’s Incident Management Team have continued to work through this period and have supported Health and our community. Councils call centre has operated extended hours and the initial weekend to provide information, while essential operational staff, Rangers and lifeguard services have continued.

21.01.2022 For those requiring information about the School Bus Changes I have managed to obtain the comprehensive list for your reference. The Minister's Office has infor...med me that tomorrow there will be TfNSW staff at all bus stops to help the kids with the changes and to understand what buses travel where. Additional signage will be on buses to help them understand the ultimate destination of the bus (eg Nth Sydney). At least with this information we can understand better what is going on and what the changes actually are. See more

19.01.2022 #BEACHESCLOSED #DEEWHY #FRESHWATER #QUEENSCLIFF... With the hot weather this weekend be aware that surf carnivals are happening at the following beaches some may be closed or have crowds. Be COVID aware to avoid the crowds. Check the beach status to ensure you favourite beach is open and keep in mind the following annual carnivals will have an impact on beach numbers this weekend. Freshwater Beach Closed Saturday (28/11) 6am to 5pm for a surfboat carnival. It is not safe to have swimmers in the water at during this time and there will be no general lifeguard patrols on this day. Queenscliff Beach The Lifeline Classic carnival is occurring on Queenscliff Beach on Saturday (28/11) which will increase activity on the beach and in the water, 6am to 5pm. Dee Why Beach The Bennett Fast Fives carnival is on Saturday (28/11) at Dee Why Beach. There will be increased crowds on the beach for this event.
18.01.2022 Council is partnering with Surf Life Saving NSW to use UAV (drone) technology to keep our beaches open and safe. Read below to see which beaches and parks are going to be monitored using drones. The trial of the new UAV beach and park UAV surveillance service will begin this Saturday 14 November at 25 Northern Beaches Council beach and park locations.

03.01.2022 #WHEELERHEIGHTS Grasmere Reserve has had the full neighbourhood playground treatment with monkey bars, a balance beam and log steppers, toddler swings, a basket swing and a horizontal spider net for climbing. There is also new bench seating and picnic tables for families to enjoy the reserve.... Manly beachfront is also looking more colourful, with new playground equipment and rubber soft fall installed and complete recently. This popular and busy playground has a new central climbing and sliding structure to complement the swings, spinning poles and other equipment.
