24.01.2022 SUE GRIER Hi everyone. So many papers have come out this week especially around changes to the NDIS. Lots of information around the independent assessors and why the introduction of these will see massive changes to people’s plans. I’ve worked so hard to get my son set up in his own home with 24/7 support. I am against these assessors who could potentially put my son at risk. Please recirculate the petition. If you tune into ABC on Thursday night at 7pm we will be on the news talking about this. https://www.change.org/p/stop-ndis-from-rolling-out-indepen

23.01.2022 It’s encouraging to see that the NDIS is becoming more flexible in how it defines reasonable!

19.01.2022 Every Australian Counts have created a great email for you to send to your local member to address your concerns about independent assessments. If you are someone like me who has a great team, and don’t want to have to re-explain your situation again, then you should consider looking at the impact of assessments on you and your teams. In addition, for people who might not have great supports and advocates, I worry about the imbalance and anxiety this process will cause - for people who are already at a disadvantage. I want the NDIS to be better than it is, not worse. And I want the minister to give it time to mature and grow before making such big changes. Have your say!

15.01.2022 Important news for our clients. As we find out more we will let you know. As always, keep up to date directly at the NDIS website.

11.01.2022 What a fantastic development. Please pass on if you know someone who may benefit. We are starting to support remote clients and welcome person centred access. Give us a call if you have questions, we love helping!

08.01.2022 It is so important to have your say, even thought it might be hard. We strongly encourage you to think about the proposals the NDIS are making, especially in relation to independent assessments and the impact that may have on you having to retell your story and have your chosen team involved in the process. We welcome improvements to the scheme but only if it makes it easier and more transparent to access funds.

07.01.2022 Independent assessments are coming, whether we like it or not. It’s important you get supports lined up so that you have everything ready to go when you need to! A great plan manager can also help provide you with contacts and providers who can be a part of your support team. Ask us how we can help you!

04.01.2022 Breaking news! If you have a moment this is very important information around how the NDIA is changing the way participants can access the plan, and the flexibility coming across budgets. We look forward to seeing how, on the ground this occurs.

01.01.2022 From today, Victorian and New South Wales NDIS participants who rely on face-to-face supports and assistance with their daily living will be able to claim the c...ost of personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks. These changes apply where coronavirus (COVID-19) is active in your community, and the use of PPE is consistent with current health advice. NDIS participants in Victoria and NSW will be able to use an existing support item (Low Cost Disability-Related Health Consumables) to claim on the cost of PPE. Additionally participants living in their own home who test positive for COVID-19 and are required to self-isolate or quarantine will also now be able to claim for related cleaning costs. The ability to claim for the cost of PPE will be extended to Victorian and New South Wales’ providers allowing workers to continue delivering essential disability supports to NDIS participants.
