25.01.2022 Hey Mama’s and Dada’s! There is that 4th trimester of having a baby, that doesn’t get talked about as often. Once the baby is born, it’s just all snuggles and kisses right?? Totally! However, there’s also the things mama needs for herself (mind and body) combined with a new family dynamic and lack of sleep! And the potential, that, 2-10 years later, you could REALLY feel it! Tune in NEXT WEDNESDAY 23RD SEP for a few pointers on why this happens and how to get through it.



23.01.2022 Next up of my top 5 for #naturalmedicineweek CHIA SEEDS FULL of omega fatty acids and an amazing source of fibre & protein, these go into any smoothie, porridge, muffin, scrambled egg or a little morning tea pudding (made with coco milk) themselves. I love sneaking these into everything. To get full benefits of chia, you are best to mix them into a liquid source to develop a gelatinous coating. This is the part that is especially good for the gut.

Such a cheap easy & very tasty way to add extra zinc, magnesium, iron and manganese to your life! Add to porridge, salads, sprinkled on roasted veg - or better still jazz them up by roasting them in cinnamon, butter and salt for that sweet crunchy pick me up! ... 21.01.2022 This podcast. My girlfriend subtly left this in my inbox. She clearly knows me better than myself. I am someone who lives with anxiety. I am someone who hates letting people down. I am someone who does so much and wants to be perfect at it all. Often, I get so overwhelmed and become so paralysed by it, I end up doing nothing. This podcast is perfect to help shift the thinking between expectation and value. You can do whatever you want, and you can do it well. Maybe just ...not all at the same time. Male or female. 20.01.2022 Oh look a pic of a salad! What I want to say about this salad is even for me lately this is a big thing, making a salad at home instead of falling prey to quick & easy toastie! Which is totally what I feel like before my cycle. The truth is, I know the toastie won’t cut it for me nutritionally. If I want to get through those (bad) carb cravings I have been having of late, I absolutely need to top up my REAL food bank! This salad is pretty basic and easy to make. It’s not ...a recipe. Just a collection of elements I always have in my fridge. Because I make sure I have fresh whole food in the fridge ALWAYS to ensure I can just pull something like this together. All the best elements of course: good fats (olive oil, avocado) protein (eggs, hemp seeds & goats cheese) magnesium (leafy greens), minerals/vitamins (cucumber, carrot, beetroot) probiotics (fermented beet). Ok, you can keep scrolling through all the other Insta salad pics now.

18.01.2022 Easily one of my most favourite snacks. Full of vitamin c, amazing source of fibre and antioxidants (just look at the colour) but most of all, now, I love it more as it has been discovered it may contain serotonin properties and help with sleep latency (ok one study, but I’ll take that). A kiwi a day will help you sleep the night away. It can’t hurt. The cutest part, Arly could say Kiwi Fruit before he even knew what it was.

13.01.2022 HAVE YOU FALLEN PREY TO ENDLESS EATING IN ISOLATION? As I speak to clients who are working from home and we examine their diet diaries, I have witnessed a constant drip-feed of food in a single day. Because they can! Accessibility/convenience, boredom, comfort (I mean working in your ugg boots = cake & tea easily). ... Whether it's the healthy or not so healthy versions of this scenario, we have to keep in mind, constant food and snacking means constant work for our digestive system to break it down, our kidneys to filter it, our blood to carry it, our cells to make energy from it. Constant work. My main concern with constant work is the permanent presence of Insulin. Each time we eat, we produce insulin. Simply put, constant Insulin means fat storage mode. This fat can be visible or invisible, but both are damaging to our health. Try to keep your meals (and snacking) to every 3-4 hours to give your digestion a chance to catch up, your body a break from Insulin and more importantly tap into fat-burning mode.

08.01.2022 Can I ask how many wooden spoons would you use in a day? It’s 9:25 am and I’ve counted 5 already. That’s just for breakfast, baking lunch and baking one snack! (haven’t even thought about dinner yet!) For 2 reasons. I have two hungry boys and I prefer them to eat healthy homemade food. (Also, um, budget). Like me, do you feel like you spend your life and days off in the kitchen? Batch cooking is a must, but even then it doesn’t last long in my house. I might be a nutritionist, but I’m a not a chef! How do you do it? What are your tips for saving time and feeding your family? GO!

06.01.2022 I call these S**t I don’t have anything for afternoon tea and there is going to be a melt down cookies! Honestly, @teresacutter_healthychef comes in handy when you have this realisation and you have to quickly pull something out like it never even happened! These are her choc chip cookies and they are made in 20 mins with almond meal, maple, vanilla, olive oil and dark chocolate all the things I happen to have in the cupboard! What do you know! ... PHEW!!!

03.01.2022 FUN FACT: I am a nutritionist & my child doesn’t touch a single vegetable on its own. It kills me! He outright says I don’t like it! before he’s even tried it so we have to get real clever at sneaking them in! Doesn’t mind a chocolate smoothie though! Little does he know! Filtered water, half a banana, a beef broth cube from @staraniseorganic , chia seeds, @nutraorganics thriving protein, raw cocao powder and of course, SPINACH!!
