18.01.2022 North Melbourne may have had a boom in small rise apartments being erected in every empty spot available much like all inner suburbs, but the old Victorian charm still exists through old town houses, abandoned warehouses and decades old shopfronts still in use. Upon closer inspection details of elaborate columns, large beautiful wooden trims, finials, ornate fascias and terraces all lie dilapidated and in a certain weathered beige noise that goes unnoticed. Spaces once elabora...te that held livelihood are now on their last legs. The family run Balinese restaurant Warung Agus on Vic st. West Melb doesn't need introduction with the locals, having run for over 25 years it's actually fed a generation into their adult life. And you'll never miss the rose petals adorning the front of the shop as you walk by. Their shopfront weathered badly and remained untouched since they occupied the spot slightly over two decades ago, they finally decided to take it upon themselves and bring things to a visible spectrum of the street. They underwent a full surface restoration of their shopfront with extensive rebuild, new render and vintage wood work saved and restored. The colour palette had to be challenging and a contrast to warmer tones of Balinese culture and cuisine; opting for calmer brighter tones to replace the ubiquitous beige they had so long been a part of - custom blue render with bright pastel tones to hint a more daring yet playful and cool appearance while cleaning up and reinvigorating a long standing face on the street. 17.01.2022 Heart of a home is in it's kitchen. Converted space in an old two-storey Victorian style home - large windows, ornate cornices and floorboards. Received a Danish touch of pine and pastel green with warm white. Being on the side that received most light and warmth, the pastel flat green tones sooth and bring a cool balance making the space seemingly useful and it's clutter purposeful.

04.01.2022 I Work in progress I Large family home receiving a new colour scheme to revitalize all living spaces and original ornate features. Following a Modern Australian style though borrowing a Scandinavian half tone effect to distinguish walls and flow through the spaces. Large atrium sections fill the house with natural light and a choice of softer china white for ceilings with half tone difference between a Honeydew green hue and a royal vintage green playing on Victorian reminiscence of elaborate cornices, centre roses and archways. The painted cornices allow the large ceiling to sit softly over bold and clean edges, and multi faceted sections have been used as opportunity to adorn clean line work and show harmony between the colours. 02.01.2022 Having started a bit over a year ago, I'm fairly excited to push that A lick of hue is now taking custom wood working orders! Those who know me will understand; through my various attempts over the years whacking two bits of wood for any odd reason and finally coming together on a professional scale is somewhat of a teeny tiny achievement i.e from design academics to designing playschool furniture to building one for my daughter to making it all available as a designer/woodworker. So if you have any inclination to having bespoke bench tops, benches, ledges, feature framing/cladding, bookcases, storage, chests, craft/study tables, cat gyms, wall planters, simply anything you fancy or feel the need for in your work/living space - CALL ME.
