Young people the world over have been taking on the challenges of COVID-19 head on and Award participants have bee...n amongst those leading the way. From translating government health advice into other languages for their local communities, to teaching online ballet lessons for children, we’ve seen some incredible examples of the Award in action around the world. We’re celebrating Award participants who have been taking a leading role in supporting their communities during the pandemic. Because being #WORLDREADY starts at home.

06.01.2022 Thank you to our peak body Outdoors NSW & ACT for their recent post in regards to Gladys Berejiklian recent statement that camps have been singled out as being unacceptable at this time even when this transmission occurred in a convention centre. I want to reassure our parents and participants that we are doing everything we can to minimise the chance of infection and spread of COVID-19 in the community while also maintaining a service that continues to support and mentor yo...ung people. As a company, we have a COVID safety plan in place and are taking this pandemic very seriously like many of our industry partners and peers. As an industry, we were heavily hit by bushfires last year and now COVID. Over the past few months, we as a company have implemented dozens of strategies to aid in minimising the spread of COVID-19, from the use of face masks while on transportation, temperatures being taken and recorded daily while on multi-day programs, no shared equipment amongst participants, handwash and sanitiser stations set up in the field and social distancing being enforced while in the field. We cannot completely rule out the possibility of being linked with a COVID-19 case in the future but that is the reality of the times and is the same risk that every cafe, supermarket, sports club, amusement centre, shopping mall, restaurant, school or other business who has elected to continue operating in face of this pandemic. Outdoor activities such as OR camps, Duke of Ed, sporting events, personal pursuits are all critical to maintaining our health, both physically and mentally. 02.01.2022 COVID Safe Practices. This morning YouthAdvance Australia CEO @keithmcreynolds was up nice and early to conduct a program audit on one of our Program Solutions AJ with a DET School. The program is being run as a day only program utilising the Award Temporary changes. Keith was specifically looking at YA’s COVID field protocols, so we can continue to improve and streamline our process to aid in limiting the potential of spreading pathogens while in field and into the community.
