25.01.2022 Through our relationship with GIVIT - Goods For Good Causes we were introduced to a great organisation called Laptops for students who refurbish old laptops and donate them to students! We have been fortunate enough to receive 3 laptops for some young people who find it difficult to access public computers and dont have one of their own. No doubt these laptops will make a huge difference to their lives. If you have an old laptop gathering dust get in touch with Laptops for... students. #oldtonew #recycle #youngpeople

25.01.2022 Spring clean anyone?! We all know that playing with Lego offers hours of fun but did you know it has a heap of benefits too? Playing with Lego can develop language and team building skills, improve your concentration and spatial awareness and even make you more patient! We would love to have some Lego on offer to the young people attending our alternative education programs so if you have some you no longer need, well happily take it off your hands. ... 24.01.2022 Beyond Bank has been supporting Youth Futures in a number of ways over the last couple of years. Next Wednesday they will double any donations made to us. So if you donate $5 they'll also donate $5! Donations will go towards our homelessness services, ensuring young people have everyday essentials. We'll also use the money to buy small Christmas gifts for those you would otherwise go without. ... You can find out more here https://www.beyondbank.com.au/your/double-donation-day.html
23.01.2022 Monday thanks goes out to Good360 who match much needed goods to not-for-profits like ours, allowing us to to spend more dollars on our young people. These care packs contained something for everyone but we're keeping the contents hush hush as we plan to give them out as part of our Christmas Cheer initiative. We're positive these bags of joy will plant some smiles on the faces of the young people we work with! If you'd like to donate stocking fillers to contribute to Christmas Cheer please give us a call 8 9300 2677.
23.01.2022 Were thankful and proud to announce that Youth Futures is a recipient of the Lotterywest COVID-19 Relief Fund. The funding will be used to deliver Emergency Relief to young people experiencing financial stress in Perths northern suburbs. Each year we support hundreds of young people who need food and/or basic hygiene items and expect to see more of a demand as we recover from the economic downturn created by COVID-19. Info on the service can be found here https://youthfutur...eswa.com.au/get-help/support-wellbeing Lotterywests support for the community is possible only because of the small businesses and players that support the purchase of Lotterywest games. Thank you
23.01.2022 We wanted to conclude Mental Health Week 2020 with a message that's central to the work we do with young people. Your past, or indeed your current situation, does not define you. At Youth Futures we believe that all young people matter, regardless of the circumstances they find themselves in. If you're a young person in need of support please do get in touch. More support resources can be found on our website.... https://youthfutureswa.com.au/get-help/resources #togetherthepossibilitiesareenedless #stongertogether
23.01.2022 Delivering over 30 services we have a variety of Youth Workers with various specialities. As mentioned previously the @youthworkwa WA Awards are not happening this year, so we've giving little shout outs to our Youth Workers to show our appreciation for their hard work. Meet the Youth Workers who make up our Homelessness Services Team. These people support over 300 young people each year to sleep in a safe place and create tailored plans for each individual to achieve their g...oals. They are caring, committed, passionate workers who work to create the best possible environments for all young people regardless of their circumstances. The team were lucky enough to be the recipients of a SmartCare grant from StreetSmart Australia which meant they received personal thank you gifts of the chocolate and coffee variety. #YouthWorkWA #YWW20 #youthwork
23.01.2022 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day is held every year on August 4. Its an opportunity for the whole community to celebrate First Nation children and each year, mob from all over the Country host and attend events focused on kids, culture, family and Community. We celebrated with a visit from the Djurpin Djindas (Happy Stars) kids who performed for us alongside James Kearing Snr on the didgeridoo. James also donated some handmade boomerangs for our ...young people to paint guided by our Aboriginal Youth Workers. Check out SNAICC-National Voice for our Children for ideas on how you can celebrate! #KidsConnectedtoCulture #strongfoundation #togetherthepossibilitiesareendless
23.01.2022 Did you know that we have a service specifically for young people newly arrived to Australia? Youth Futures is proud to be part of the Welcome Hub, an initiative lead by the City of Stirling and in partnership with three other organisations: Metropolitan Migrant Resource Centre (MMRC), Ishar Multicultural Womens Health Services Inc, and Asetts (Association Services To Torture & Trauma Survivors). Its refugee week so we want to take a moment to acknowledge that in 2017 youn...g people made up over 50% of the worlds refugees therefore, its important to have services in place to make these young people feel safe and welcome and to support them to improve their wellbeing, independence and community connectedness. Our Youth Settlement Service does exactly that via one-on-one intensive support, information sessions and recreational activities like art workshops, sport and camps. If you would like to find out more about planned activities or the support on offer call 08 92057335 between 9 am-4 pm Tuesday-Friday.
23.01.2022 Monday thanks this week goes out to young Tom who, as part of a school project, sewed discreet Velcro pockets into blankets so young people sleeping publicly or in shared spaces can keep their personal belongings safe. Thanks and well done Tom!
23.01.2022 Across our education sites we have lots of basketball enthusiasts. A few weeks ago one of our students took the initiative and organised a game between two campuses, using the event to cover a unit in his Certificate of Education. Win, win! Staff were proud of his initiative and the sportsmanship displayed by all students involved. It was a great afternoon, enjoyed by all!
22.01.2022 As the end of the school year draws near, our Comet students are working hard to complete their certificates. Lucky for them Dom Pedro is there to lend a paw #therapydog #appropriateducation #youthfutures

21.01.2022 Youth Futures has been a recipient of StreetSmart Australia CafeSmart initiative for a number of years and last year we were super excited to be part of the Sleepsafe project. Believing that everyone should have a safe place to sleep StreetSmart partnered with Sheridan Australia to create Sleep Kits. These kits are manufactured by Sheridan suppliers using excess material and each contain a single sheet set (fitted and flat sheets with a pillowcase) and towel. Youth Futures h...as received numerous kits, using them in our homelessness services and distributing them via our Emergency Relief service. The kits are always well received by the young people we support and are such a practical item to give that has a huge impact. Here's Jo, our Nest worker, with the donated kits and Belinda, who’s staying at our crisis accommodation service TINOCA, making her bed for a good nights sleep. #togetherthepossibilitiesareendless #youthhomelessness #safenightssleep

19.01.2022 This year NAIDOC week has been officially moved to 8-15 November. However, in honor of the original date we wanted to share pictures from a recent cultural incursion and Smoking Ceremony we had at Comet Caversham. Smoking Ceremonies are an ancient Aboriginal custom which involves the burning of native plants to acknowledge ancestors, cleanse places and people of bad spirits and promote the wellbeing of people and guests on Country. Individuals are encouraged to walk through o...r have the smoke pass over them to get a personal cleanse. We were lucky enough to have James Kearing Snr, a Noongar Elder, lead the ceremony for us and give us some cultural insight to the custom. As an organisation we are dedicated to continuously learning and integrating Aboriginal history and culture into our services. #aboriginalculture #smokingceremony #alwayswasalwayswillbe
19.01.2022 IDENTITY CRISIS! From January 2021 our education sites formally known as Comet, will be renamed Youth Futures Community School. COMET was established in 2002 as a Community Outreach Model of Education & Training. Scrapping the acronym in 2015 when we transitioned to a Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education (CaRE) School, we kept the name but have since expanded, delivering a holistic suite of services across 4 campuses. ... In essence we're a school supporting the future of young people in our community and as such will now be known as Youth Futures Community School. For more information please visit our website www.yfcschool.com.au/
18.01.2022 Shout out to all the nurses out there supporting our community! Your recognition is long overdue. 17.01.2022 Today is World Hunger Day. I guess we all thought that by 2020 we wouldn't still be battling things like people going hungry, especially in developed countries like Australia. However, 1 in 5 of us have experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months. Hunger is not just about food. Hunger and poverty are interwoven and central to an array of challenges including: healthcare, decent work opportunities, education and social justice. Our food distribution is so valuable to u...s and the young people we work with. Across our sites we provide around 500 meals per week to young people and it's a community effort with food donations and volunteers. How will you eat today? #worldhungerday #itsmorethanameal #youthhomelessness

16.01.2022 National Volunteer Week! Thank you to all of the individuals who lend us a helping hand. We appreciate each and every one of you. Before lock down we were fortunate to have two teams from Westpac come in and pack Emergency Relief hampers for us. They battled it out to see which team could pack the most and were so grateful they did as we werent able to have volunteers in for a number of weeks after so their competitiveness paid off! Heres a picture of the "boys" team who we had to declare as the "winners" since they packed every item we had in our cupboard!! #NVW2020 #thankyou

14.01.2022 As we move into Term 3 we want to give you an update on our newest Education Program, Comet Connect, which launched at the beginning of the year. In essence Comet Connect is a mobile learning space. After identifying a gap in service provision for young people who are unable to attend school due to social, emotional or mental health challenges we thought, why not take the classroom to them? And so thats what we did. Hows it going? AMAZING! ... Weve been running at capacity and seeing tremendous success with the program as students are enjoying learning and being really proactive with their studies #appropriateleducation #mobilelearning #youthfutures

06.01.2022 The COVID-19 pandemic impacted all of us in some way but it put remarkable strain on the most vulnerable in our community. Each year we fundraise through the Pipeline Challenge to keep young families together and safe in a Nest home. Unfortunately, this years event was cancelled, leaving us not knowing how wed continue to the service. In response to the pandemic, Lotterywest allocated all profits previously assigned to a direct grants budget into the newly created fund to assist the Western Australian community to recover and we were delighted to be a recipient. Dave Kelly MP and Emily Hamilton MLA joined Antony Feldhusen from Lotterywest at our HQ to present us with a grant for $100,000 ensuring we can continue to keep young families safe and together for another year. Thank you Lotterywest!
06.01.2022 Thank you to the students at Ashdale Secondary College Secondary College for the heartfelt donations to the Nest program. The Home Economics class put together care packages for our young families and in each care package there was a handcrafted item such as a blanket, burp cloth or beanie. Super cute and very thoughtful! Thank you
06.01.2022 If you use our services (or even if you don't!) in Altone jump online and tell the City of Swan how you'd like to see the area improved. We would love to see the basketball court outside our Altone Youth Services building improved with resurfacing, maybe toilets, improved lighting... If they don't know they can't fix it! Together the possibilities are endless.
06.01.2022 Recently some of the young people we work with received phones from Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia, Youth Digital Inclusion (YDI) project. The YDI project was developed to respond to the digital divide experienced by some young people across our State. Access to technology in an increasingly digitalised world is a necessity. Young people are required to use technology to book appointments, use services, engage in education, and stay connected with friends and fam...ily. You can see for yourself what it means to the young people we work with!

05.01.2022 Like us, Premier Mark McGowan believes that young people "deserve a safe and comfortable place to sleep". That's why we are excited to announce that the WA Labor party has committed $3.4m towards a replica of our highly successful crisis accommodation service, TINOCA in the northern suburbs.
05.01.2022 Recently sport and fitness facilities have been inaccessible for most. However, this is often the norm for the young people we work with. Memberships/club fees/equipment can be pricey and transport to and from can be difficult to coordinate. Just before lock down we met with Reclink Australia and signed up as a member agency to allow more of our young people to have access to sport and recreation facilities. Before we could get a taste of it, lock down hit. Reclink were quic...k to adapt, posting classes online and donating equipment to our education facilities through their Sports Share program. The young people have LOVED being able to try out new things in their own environment and our education staff have developed a morning fitness program for them to keep active. Exercise is great for physical and mental health and helps with concentration in class and social skills, so its winning all round for our young people! Thank you Reclink Australia and keep up the good work Anchor Points!
05.01.2022 We love working with like minded companies and brands. 04.01.2022 Starting the week with a cuteness overload. Meet Maya and Talitha, our youngest supporters to date! The girls celebrated their 4th birthday and instead of gifts to mark the occasion they used the day as a fundraiser. They then spent the money on items for our Nest program, supporting young parents experiencing homelessness. Donations like this make such a difference to our organisation and the young people we support.... Big thanks to the girls and their Mummy, Dulani. #community #fundraising #youthhomelessness
04.01.2022 With the Youth Work WA Awards not happening this year, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge our Youth Workers in a slightly different way. So here we are publicly shining the light on Anchor Point's Youth Support and Development Workers! Meet, Danielle, Sarah, Kristy and Josie. They do an amazing job of creating a safe space where Anchor Point students can achieve their goals. Last year, young people attending Anchor Point were asked what helped them achieve their most... significant change from attending the program. They responded with feeling accepted, being heard, having a stable and safe place to learn, flexibility and gaining confidence. Thanks to the Youth Support and Development Workers for always being so passionate and professional in supporting Anchor Point students. #YouthWorkWA #YWW20 #youthwork

03.01.2022 We're thankful and proud to announce that Youth Futures is a recipient of the Lotterywest COVID-19 Relief Fund. The funding will be used to deliver Emergency Relief to young people experiencing financial stress in Perth's northern suburbs. Each year we support hundreds of young people who need food and/or basic hygiene items and expect to see more of a demand as we recover from the economic downturn created by COVID-19. Info on the service can be found here https://youthfutur...eswa.com.au/get-help/support-wellbeing Lotterywest’s support for the community is possible only because of the small businesses and players that support the purchase of Lotterywest games. Thank you

It's an opportunity for the whole community to celebrate First Nation children and each year, mob from all over the Country host and attend events focused on kids, culture, family and Community.

02.01.2022 We've seen amazing community support over the last couple of weeks with Perth lockdown and bushfires. A lot of the behind the scenes things we do is also thanks to community support. Most recently All Trees Perth - Tree Surgeon/Arborist volunteered their time to remove a diseased tree from one of our properties that accommodates young people experiencing homelessness. Thank you for your time and for making the back yard safe for residents to use!
