24.01.2022 POWER OUTAGE INFORMATION: Please be informed that the clinic’s power is out with potential outage until 4pm today. Our telephones are also out. The doctors are calling existing Telehealth appointments that were booked prior to this morning, from mobiles. ****Please note, the calls will be coming from no caller ID mobiles****... There is a delay and we are working to get through our list. We appreciate your patience and understanding at this time. Face-to-face consults are still occurring. However, any Telehealth appointments that were booked this morning cannot be called due to the system outage. We apologise for this inconvenience and we hope for the power to be restored ASAP. 24.01.2022 Little Sammy is part of the You Yangs Medical family, and celebrated his 1st Birthday during the last Victorian lockdown. Diabetes Victoria is very close to the heart of Bre’s family. When Sammy turned 1, they asked for donations in lieu of any gifts and from family and friends, raised $1,200. Gifts in lieu is the perfect way to help non-for-profit organisations, particularly during a global pandemic. Please enjoy this video of our little guy.

23.01.2022 World AIDS Day falls on the 1st of December each year. It raises worldwide awareness about HIV and AIDS and it gives people the opportunity to show their support for people living with this condition. 19.01.2022 Remembrance Day. On the 11th hour of the 11 month, we remember. We remember the sacrifice Australians have made in war and the servicemen and service women and their families. The impact of serving in the Defence Forces on the men and women who serve and their families can be long. More and more younger men and women are returning from our longest war. We understand the challenges and are here to help.

15.01.2022 COVID-19 data. The postcode data has been solid road sign as to what is happening in our postcode. Over the last 2 weeks, we saw the active cases in Lara increase to 15. It is so good to see that cases have dropped and dropped again over the weekend. 3212 only has 5 active cases now (23/8). All of those who are and are currently infected are doing the right thing. 13.01.2022 From 11:59pm on Sunday 6th December, you must continue to carry your face mask on you at all times when you leave your home. Although there are situations where we are no longer required to wear our face masks, we please ask that you continue to wear your face mask upon arrival to the clinic, and in particular, when you are in close proximity to our doctors, nurses and clinic staff. 03.01.2022 THUNDERSTORM ASTHMA - Tips Geelong and Lara are vulnerable to the effects of Thunderstorm Asthma. Here are some tips: - Visits your GP to review your asthma medication and have plan if you get unwell and wheezy - do you have hay fever/allergic rhinitis? You can buy salty water nose sprays and wash as well as medicated nose sprays (with a corticosteroid such as Rhinocort or Nasonex) over the counter - download the Melbourne Pollen Count app from your app store... - have medication available - inhalers, antihistamines - resist the temptation to open up the house when the weather changes to air it. Limit how much you are outside - if you are getting wheezy, seek help early. You Yangs Medical Clinic has prepared. A lot has changed because of the pandemic. However, we know the importance of these events. In the last two events we managed seriously unwell people in our clinic whilst awaiting their transport to hospital. We are here to help. 01.01.2022 Experiencing lockdown fatigue? It is real. In a short time, we have all become restricted in our daily lives. The Covid-19 outbreak in Victoria has kept loved ones apart and caused job losses. For many of us, we also carry the additional challenges of being a parent, teacher, carer and employee all simultaneously. For those living on their own, this second lockdown has created a unique feeling of loneliness. The daily routine has all of a sudden been taken away, a routine ...which usually would keep the traditional loneliness at bay. Structure, exercise and quality sleep appear to be the key to combating this lockdown fatigue. I have attached below some information regarding additional Covid-19 mental health support for people who are subjected to further restrictions. People who have a mental health plan and a review with their GP will be eligible to receive 10 additional subsidised sessions with their psychologist, psychiatrist, or other eligible allied health worker.
