25.01.2022 O50’s match at Moonta this Sunday has been CANCELLED as per below. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours there has been a directive from SA Health and the State Government as follows:" Community sports fixtures and training is temporarily cancelled for both indoor and outdoor sports, as well as contact and non-contact sports." This means that SAVCA will have to cancel the Over 50's Round 4 November 22nd ... This is an unfortunate event and we certainly hope that the SA community stays safe. If there is any change you will be notified as soon as possible.
20.01.2022 The Salties travelled to Brighton today. We won the toss and batted on a very interesting Wicket that had the bowlers salivating. YP/MN 152 (Sean Williams 68, Chris Ward 29) defeated BRIGHTON 74 (Matty Rose 3/23 Andrew Rumbelow 4/31)... Williams knock was brilliant winding back the clock to his glory days at the NANTAWARRA CC. Other highlights were the gritty middle order 11 from Des Westlake and the appearance of another two dubutants. BUTE CC stallwart Sol Solomon effecting a skillful run out from square leg and former WALLAROO CC legend Geoff Bateson featuring in a 30 run last wicket partnership and chiming in with a wicket. Shout out to Aaron Milford for travelling down to umpire. Next game is at home in fortnight. Sing out if ya keen to join in on the merriment Get well soon Scoot - we miss ya.
18.01.2022 It’s official! There will be 2 x O50’s SAVCA teams selected to play against Victoria in Geelong on Tuesday 9th February. 17.01.2022 YP Salties 8/159 (Ward 41 ret, Chapman 26, Williams 23, Seddon 22no, Brunton 4/34 Bertram 2/15) Defeated Grange 8/93 (Hartop 36, Bertram 28, Matty Rose 4/4, Mill 3/10)... Fun game played in great spirit. MVP - Chris Chapman (on debut) for his handy 26 runs in the middle order, a pair of very good outfield catches and bowled a couple of tidy overs as well. Big shout out to Matt Rose who got a call up at Midday and had it on a string. Many thanks to Scooter for his generous donation of Windmill Creek Estate cab/sav for the spirit of cricket awards. Big thank you to Chris Cook and Mark Durdin and the Moonta Cricket Club for providing a first rate facility and for manning the bar. Also to George Nitschke for umpiring. Next game @ Brighton in a fortnight - sing out if ya keen - looking a few short at this stage.
17.01.2022 Thr Kadina deck is looking a picture for Sunday. We actually have room for another man if any one is keen. Preferably a bowler. All ya gotta do is wear ya whites and be over 45. Sing out - don’t be shy.

Go well and remember- Life is better when you play cricket.
13.01.2022 YP 9/110 (Garrad 18, Borlace 16, Judd 3/15, Sargent 2/11) LOST to Eastern Zone 3/114 (Bensen 36, Favell 29* Ramage 22, Ackland 2/31) A far superior East’s outfit too skilled for the newbies but we did have fun and only one hamstring tear. YP MVP for today was young Birdy Ackland with two wickets to go with his handy 15 runs with the bat.... Many thanks to the East’s fellas and Adelaide Cricket Club who made us feel very welcome to the comp. BOWLERS NEEDED First home game next Sunday at Moonta sing out if your keen for a game.
12.01.2022 OVER 50’S SA VETERANS CRICKET ASSOCIATION CLASH AT KADINA It may not be up to the standard of the upcoming Adelaide Day/Night test match between Australia and... India but the Yorke Peninsula took on Adelaide-based Eastern Zone in the Over 50’s clash at the beautiful Kadina Oval. The veterans' competition is played nationally, and this is the first year the Yorke Peninsula has been involved. Organiser Chris Ward says although it’s been difficult to get 11 players on the field each game, particularly during harvest, the YP has been very competitive and the love of the game is the key along with the friendships made during the season The popular competition now goes into a break over the Christmas period and will return mid-January. The bowlers aren’t as quick and the players aren’t as fit BUT the love of the game doesn’t fade

05.01.2022 The Salties hosted the boys from East’s today at the magnificently prepared Kadina CC. We welcomed 2 more debutants in Tony Tree (who drove from Elliston) and Danial Dunn from Angle Vale CC. East’s won the toss and carved up to post a formidable 232 from their 40 Overs.... YP bowlers toiled better then the figures suggest. C Ward 3/43, Matty Rose 2/38 & Dunn 1/22. The chase didn’t start well - on the ropes at 5/45. Some lower order resilience saw us all out in the last over for 159. A career defining innings of 48 not out from young Mark Seddon was our highlight of the day (he also bowled 8 overs). Some other comeos with bat were Sean Williams 24, Tony Tree 16, and a trio of 15’s from Chris Chapman, Des Westlake & Andrew Mill. Westlake also kept wickets at short notice - taking two catches including a one handed blinder down the leg side. Great fun day again had by all. Thanks again to the Kadina CC. Festivities to recommence with a COVID Catch up game at home on Sunday 10th January - GET ON BOARD THE SALTIES TRAIN
