We are still fine-tuning how to get the sound right in a live-stream, but you can click the link below to watch the recording that includes sound! Link: https://drive.google.com//1ulMaztlpLysYZ3lqIMbxOy11B/view The school captains introduced 2 videos, one from Mrs Fairus, the teacher from Malaysia who visited last year showing us how they are learning from home. Then the captains introduced a video they made that had interviews with students talking about the remote learning experience. 20.01.2022 Our junior students were very excited to play the new instrument in the Music Room. Say hello to the cello! It was wonderful to see them experimenting with different bow techniques, and the concentration on their faces was priceless. Having the confidence to ‘have a go’ at playing a new instrument and experimenting with different ways to make sounds is just one way we help our students realise that they are all musicians. It was also wonderful to see them all supporting each other and giving positive feedback about the music they were making. Who knows, we may have some professional cellists in the making?!

20.01.2022 We are so excited to announce that ‘Spoonville’ has landed at Yarra Road! We know that this news might stir up some excitement, we hope you have a spoonful of fun! So find yourself a spoon, decorate it, get creative and add it to our school village. Please take a photo of all your creations and send them in. If you don’t live within walking distance of school or within the 5km zone, please add your spoon figure to your own garden and send us a photo. ... We are looking forward to seeing all your spoon creations!

20.01.2022 Our Spoonville is growing! Remember if you live outside of the local area you can place your spoon in your garden and send us a photo! We would love to see them!

14.01.2022 Yesterday our Year 3/4 students had a fun day at ‘Sanctuary Hill’. We ‘panned’ for ‘gold’, played games such as quoits and skittles and built huts!

12.01.2022 We are looking forward to the Grade 6s and 5s performing their ‘scaled version’ of the production at the end of November. We are so fortunate to have the costume design and creation skills of Erica to make the individualised costumes for the kids. She is so talented, and we love seeing the kids eyes light up when they see a costume piece made especially for them. The journey on the road to performance is just as rewarding as the performance itself. The production this year will be recorded at school and a DVD will be created that can be shown to families and the students.

09.01.2022 Today's Wellbeing Wednesday theme is 'Friendship'. We'll be thinking about the qualities of a good friend, what makes us a good friend, the ingredients we'd add to Friendship Soup, and the activities we like to do with our friends. So what do you think makes a good friend?

09.01.2022 That was fun! Thanks for playing everyone! Well done to our top 3 teams from tonight’s trivia round. New Champions tonight! See you all again in 2 weeks!

09.01.2022 Have you seen our new house points system on the student portal? We are pretty excited! Students are able to earn points by completing different fitness challenges, which they can then enter via a Google Form, found by clicking on their house logo. At the top of each Google Form, a link can be found which will take students to a grid outlining what exercises students can do and how many points each exercise earns for the student. Students and their families are encouraged to earn points for their houses, and enter points regularly. The points will be updated throughout each day to keep track of total points. We will be expanding the ability to earn points for school work, and other physical activities as we go, but feel free to get involved as much as you can! The challenge is on! Let's see which house comes out on top!

08.01.2022 We love seeing pictures of our hard working students learning remotely! Great effort!

08.01.2022 It was Cast A’s turn today, and weren’t they incredible! The commitment these kids have shown over the year has been remarkable - from auditioning at the start of the year, to memorising their lines and rehearsing via Google Meets in lockdown, to a crazy busy few weeks of rehearsals back at school this term. They deserved their production this year and all credit to them for pulling it all together and making a great show. They were funny, dramatic, great at improvising and ...worked so well as a team. Congratulations to all of the students in Grades 5 and 6. We hope it was a memorable and fun experience for you. Special thanks to Erica Boxall for all of the costumes she made, Mr Quick for the sound system and working the microphones, and Mr Hanley who video recorded all the performances to make them available to go home with the students to share with their families. We have taken photos of all students that performed, including individual and group shots, and we will get them printed and sent home before the end of term.

07.01.2022 We’re famous! Check out Channel 9 news at 6pm tonight featuring YRPS! A couple of our students and Mrs James were interviewed about our lack of power at school today!

07.01.2022 Are you still without power at home? We are offering a pop up breakfast club in the gym tomorrow 8.15-8.40 for any families that would like to come have breakfast and a cuppa, enjoy the warmth and charge their devices . Adults must wear a mask at school (when not eating.) Please pass the word on to any families that are without power!

07.01.2022 Our Year 3-6 students had great fun with Science experiments in their Google Meet with specialist teachers yesterday! All you need for this experiment is detergent, food dye, milk and a skewer! Type ‘food dye and milk experiment’ into Google to find out more!

06.01.2022 Well done to all of the students that submitted their designs for the new guitar picks for our music room. We had over 50 submissions from Grades 1-6, all of which were so detailed and colourful. We asked every student in those grade levels to cast a silent vote, and all designs were kept anonymous so as not to influence decision-making. All students could cast three votes, one for each of their favourites from Grade 1&2, 3&4, and 5&6. After tallying the votes, these three designs were the clear winners. Congratulations to the designers!! We look forward to sending your designs off to be printed onto our new guitar picks

06.01.2022 YRPS was on Channel 9 news! Well done to Mrs Shalders, Charlotte and Solly! (It is towards the end of this segment) https://fb.watch/62Z4ETgLWc/
