23.01.2022 Congratulations to AJ and Bridget who won the ASTRO3D Spectroscopy competition. They both took exceptional photos of the emission spectra of Neon after learning about yhe Hydrogen Balmer series which is when an electron falls from a higher energy level (N=3 -->N=6) back down to energy level 2 and emits a photon of light specific to the difference in the energy levels. Beautiful Spectra!

23.01.2022 SciScouts have arrived at Space Squad! . We kicked of the day with an opening parade led by AJ Lehane followed by solar observing with an 8 inch Bintel Dobsonian Telescope and a Coronado Personal Solar Telescope. Welcome SciScouts ACT!

20.01.2022 This afternoon our SciScouts learnt about Spectroscopy from Ella Wang from ANU and ASTRO3D. Ella taught us about galactic archaeology and how galaxies and starclusters evolve over time. Ella also taught us how specific elements such as Calcium can not only be detected in the spectra of stars but can also be quantified. Thanks Ella, always a pleasure to have you on Space Squad.
