24.01.2022 YSPN’s focus is primarily on issues concerning our chapters across Australia and New Zealand, but what is clear is that as a first-generation community, we maintain close connections to our families and heritage in Punjab, who are being affected by these bills. We felt a responsibility given our position and capabilities to address these bills appropriately for our audience, and indeed the Global Sikh community. We recently recorded a YSPN webinar with 2 expert guest speaker...s - Professor CSC Sekhar & Professor Sukhpal Singh who provided critical insights and expert analysis on India's Farm Bills. Our aim from delivering this event to you is a fact-based exploration of the issues holistically and provide better options for the diaspora to contribute meaningfully to these issues and address the plight of Sikhs, Farmers, and Punjab as a whole. Currently leading the DNA Zoo Australia at the UWA School of Agriculture and Environment, Ms Kaur heads the Translational Genomics research program with the aim to translate fundamental science into ready-to-use solutions across the medical and agricultural sectors. Her work is also being used for COVID-19 research. ... Ms Kaur encourages more females to take part in STEM careers noting that female scientists bring an entirely different and interesting perspective to the field. We wish Ms Kaur all the best as she embarks on the 2021/2022 Top 60 Superstars in STEM Program sponsored by the Australian Government’s Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources. https://buff.ly/2WDTKSn
