25.01.2022 In 2019 we are running a competition for current and past owners of Yulgilbar bred horses, and we are receiving some wonderful entries. The competition details can be found on our website, entries close in June: https://www.yulgilbarqh.com.au/yulgilbar-quarter-horses-20/ We are delighted to share one of our first entries, from Danielle Tighe who was the proud owner of Yulgilbar Nokia Chex (Playboy Roy/Clover Spicy Chex). Danielle writes: "We started our cutting addiction f...rom our good friends Alan and Robyn Edgar from Armagh in Central Qld. Alans love of the Yulgilbar horses was quite evident, and he was training a horse called Yulgilbar Nokia Chex (Chexy) for a friend. He was about 14.2hh and had an attitude but boy he could work a cow. After convincing the owner to sell we become the proud new owners of Chexy. Alan continued to train and show Chexy and had achieved great success around the Area 4 shows in Central Qld, winning and placing in Novices and Open events. Chexy was then retired from the open cutting pen and was handed to me to show me the ropes. We achieved great success and I was dubbed "the Snafflebit Queen" winning many events in and outside our region travelling as far as Charters Towers to the North and Tamworth to the South. There were so many achievements to mention, the ones that stand out the most were winning the Snafflebit Championship at Charters Towers and carrying on to win Runner up in Area 5 standings in the same year. But I would have to say the most memorable was the NCHA Finals in 2012, Chexy had been diagnosed with asthma 2 days before competing, we didnt have the best preparation going into the event, we ended up placing 6th from a huge field. I was super proud of the effort he gave me, he has never let me down and we finished the year 5th in the national standings. I would never have dreamed to have been able to compete at this level if only for Chexy and for the guidance from Alan Edgar. Chexy and I went through some tough times together and he remained with me until he passed on the 9th December 2018 at the age of 19, taken too soon but forever in my heart. A big heartfelt thanks to Yulgilbar Quarter horses for breeding outstanding horses." Thank you for sharing your story Danielle. Rest in peace dear Chexy.

13.01.2022 Enjoy Jackie Perkins entry in our 2019 competition - the heartwarming story of her journey with the wonderful Yulgilbar Lots of Play (Playboy Roy/Docs Savannah): "I am the very lucky owner of Yulgilbar Lots Of Play (aka LOPY). We purchased him as a 4 year old. I will never forget my first ride on him at Benalla, not realising my parents had purchased him for me. After my run, mum asked how I enjoyed my new horse. It was a dream come true to a young teenager. Not only did h...e bring the Myer family to their first NCHA Futurity title, but he made me extremely competitive by winning many titles, including senior champion of Australia. He retired too early, but in his years he earnt in excess of $90k. Lopy is that one in a life time horse and he will forever play a huge part in my life. He is now unable to be ridden but is 21 years young and my 8month old son loves sitting on him... Hes a gift that just keeps giving." Thank you Jackie, its lovely to hear that this superstar is so loved in his retirement and continues to bring you joy. For all past and present owners of Yulgilbar bred horses, dont forget to enter our competition by 30th June, all details are on the website: https://www.yulgilbarqh.com.au/yulgilbar-quarter-horses-20/

12.01.2022 We were touched to receive an entry in our 2019 competition for owners of Yulgilbar bred horses, from nine year old Harry Harms. Harry is the proud owner of Yulgilbar Agassi Roy (Playboy Roy/Yulbilbar Gay Phillipa), and writes: Roy came into my life because my horse and best friend Playaway died in a horrible accident. He had really big shoes to fill as there was a huge piece of my heart missing. Roy has been a blessing, he is a wonderful gentle horse. He looks after m...e and my brother whether we are working cattle or participating in the Interschool competitions. One time he really looked out for me was at Interschool last year. Just 4 days before we were due to compete I had an accident at a friends place and fractured my scapular blade. After 2 days rest I got on Roy and he made sure I was safe the whole time. We placed in every event and even won the Australian Pleasure Hack. Roy is extremely special to me and my family. Roy is a one in a million horse. Love you ROYBOY. This photo is of Harry and Royboy at Fraser Coast Interschool Equestrian, five days after breaking his right scapular, placing third in the dry work. Harrys mother Lena Jane Harms added "They have a very special partnership, Roy has helped Harry through more than he could put in his story. Roy is a credit to your breeding program and to the people who buy your young horses and put the time into them." Thank you Harry, Lena Jane, and Royboy. We wish you all the best for the future and thank you very much for sharing your story. Helen writes: "They say you only ever have one great horse in your life, and I think I am safe to say Ive been lucky enough to have had the one - YULGILBAR MISSOURI PLAYBOY Q-40793. Forever thankful to Graham Ross, Missouri came into my life as a 14 year old with earnings ...of around $50,000. Over a few years together we racked up another $20,000 plus a few NCHA and Area titles, he soon took me from a total Rookie to a competitive Open NP. His integrity, athleticism and cow sense gave me so much confidence in showing and I always knew hed give 110%. Missouri was retired sound at the age of 17 and lived his last few years out as a baby sitter for our weanlings. He was laid to rest this year at age 20, next to the arena here at home where he can look over us everyday doing what he loved and did best working cows. Please spread the word, all details of how to enter are on our website: https://www.yulgilbarqh.com.au/yulgilbar-quarter-horses-20/ Lauren Denmead has been in touch with the story of Yulgilbar Elpeppy Panther (A Pink Panther/Yugilbar O Peppy Roy). Lauren writes: "Peppy was purchased by Richard Bull and trained for the... 2015 futurity. He was not finished off, but was brilliant! He then did very little, sat in the paddock for several years, until I decided to snaffle bit him. I won my first show with him, but didnt continue due to time constraints. Richard then decided to put him through the 2019 Landmark Classic sale, as no one was riding him. I started riding him everyday to get him ready for the sale, and realized that he was a super cool horse. I started to work on getting him cutting one handed, showed him in the last classic event available to him, and he went really well in both rounds. So I decided that I would purchase him at Landmark, and now he will be my dedicated show horse. He is a very talented, smart and quick horse, he will get better and better and will be a force to be reckoned with once he gets more show experience!" Thank you for sharing your story Lauren, we look forward to following your progress with this lovely horse! Photo: Tracey Nicholson
