24.01.2022 Continuing our Yume Superstars series, we’ve got our eye on our friends at ALL - Accor Live Limitless. Accor made an incredible effort in the fight against food waste last year and purchased 39,750kg of great quality surplus food from our platform. That’s saving 79.5 tonnes of CO2 and 2,742,750L of water! Thanks to Accor for helping us realise our vision of a world without waste - we can’t wait to see the results of your efforts this year!

22.01.2022 Our friends at Lion Beverages and Byron Bay Brewery have supported us from the start, using surplus food to make a delicious and innovative beer! Thanks for being great to partners to work with and helping us in the fight against food waste

20.01.2022 One of our favourites stories from our friends at Kellogg's Australia was finding a home for 7.5T of dried fruit used for a product that was undergoing an ingredients transformation. Just 48 hours after publishing the product on our online marketplace, the entire consignment was sold to a small boutique manufacturer who used the dried fruit in a different product. Kellogg’s celebrated a return for its surplus ingredients and a small business owner managed to reduce their food costs - all while saving the planet. Everybody wins!

19.01.2022 We’re continuing our journey down memory lane of the Yume team’s most memorable food consignments that have taken us to our 2,000,000kg sold. In February this year, a large beverages manufacturer had a cancelled order from a nation-wide supermarket, and found themselves with 366,500 surplus cans of apricot juice! That’s a LOT of juice! They contacted Yume, who managed to sell the entire consignment in less than a week - preventing 208 tonnes of perfect Apricot Juice from going to waste. Thousands of Australians can now enjoy this delicious juice, the supplier got a great return on the product they put so much time into, and we spared the environment from millions of tonnes of CO2 ending up in the atmosphere. We say it’s a win-win-win!

18.01.2022 SUEZ Australia and New Zealand have long been working towards a more sustainable future, which is why we partnered with them in 2019. Thanks to our partnership, we have prevented more than 450,285 kilograms of surplus food from going to waste and returned $700,000 to Aussie businesses - and that’s just the beginning! Thanks to Suez Australia & NZ and Justin Frank for supporting Yume and everything we do, we can’t wait to continue preventing good food from going to waste together!

16.01.2022 Yume’s superstars! We’re taking the opportunity to highlight our buyers’ and suppliers’ amazing achievements in supporting our war on food waste. Our first superstar is Unilever, who prevented over 4,002kg of food from going to waste last year. That’s 8 tonnes of CO2 and a whopping 276,138L of water! Thanks for supporting Yume’s mission of a world without food waste and keep up the incredible work!

15.01.2022 For the past 10 weeks, we’ve been exploring the option of bringing Yume to New Zealand. As we were doing this, we discovered that more than 400,000kg of food might go to waste if nothing changes. That’s just scratching the surface - who knows what the real number is? What we do know is that there has to be a better way. Our CEO and Founder, Katy Barfield, had a chat with New Zealand’s Stuff about Yume and our plans for the future. Thanks to Stuff for helping us bring attention to this issue in NZ! You can read the entire article below https://www.stuff.co.nz//food-waste-recycling-platform-off

14.01.2022 Today, on World Food Day, we are celebrating an incredible milestone: the Yume team has prevented 2,000,000kg of quality surplus food from going to waste. That’s the same weight as six 747 airplanes (yeah, the big ones!) stacked on top of each other! From lobster tails to peach paste to chocolate, there isn’t a food that we haven’t seen on the Yume platform. We’ve learned soooo much in the process, for example what the heck is Maltitol and who would be able to use it? How d...o we package pies for export? Where can you use peach paste? And so much more! As a result, we have become great at thinking on our feet, being innovators and keeping good food from going to waste - we are now the surplus food experts! But it’s not just the food that we have saved: through our work, we have had the opportunity to return $7 million to Aussie farmers and food manufacturers. A massive thank you to Sodexo Australia, SUEZ Australia and New Zealand, Kellogg's Australia, Unilever Australia and our network of suppliers, buyers and friends of Yume who have been there to cheer us on. Bring on the next 2 million kilos, so we can keep working towards a world without waste!

09.01.2022 Our next Yume Superstar, Sodexo Australia, purchased an enormous 108,322kg of surplus food from the Yume platform in the last 12 months, saving 216 tonnes of CO2 from waste and 7,474,218L of water. That’s enough water to fill 3 Olympic swimming pools! Congratulations on your massive effort in the fight against food waste, Sodexo Australia! We look forward to continuing to work together in our mission towards a world with no waste

04.01.2022 Our friends at Kellogg's Australia helped us reach our milestone of two million kilos, listing surplus ingredients and cereals on the Yume platform. In fact, did you know that Kellogg's became the first manufacturer to take the Yume Pledge to list their surplus ingredients exclusively on the Yume platform in 2019? We love that they're proactive in reducing their food waste and giving fantastic food a second life! Thanks for believing in our vision of a world without waste, we're excited to continue working together to achieve it!

01.01.2022 Yume is going on a walk down memory lane to celebrate our major milestone: preventing 2,000,000kgs of food from going to waste! In September 2018, a large manufacturer approached Yume with surplus Maltitol (don’t worry, it took us a while to learn how to pronounce it correctly too!) - a powdered sweetener commonly used in the food industry. With no obvious buyers, we had to think creatively to prevent this from going to waste. Through much research, we discovered that this ingredient is used to coat a lot of medicine to give it a sweet taste. We reached out to a pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Melbourne, who ended up buying 7,800 kilos!
