25.01.2022 As eek now almost everything is recyclable, this gives reason to why recycling is important on all levels.

24.01.2022 Looks as though weve come full circle, just like in the beginning when it was first discovered that grasses could be used as straws. This is a great alternative as long as the eco system doesnt suffer.

23.01.2022 Ffs. The cotton industry, big business greasing up the government. Stop buying Australian cotton.

22.01.2022 Hi Everyone Have you ever wondered how it would be, to live in a plastic free society and would you be able to manage it, as with most changes in life it takes determination and lifestyle change. A lot of what you will need to do is go back to the past, farmers markets and bread from the baker for example. Today's world is all about quick easy convenience, but if your organised you can still have convenience as quick as a flash. I have been giving it my best for a while now a...Continue reading

15.01.2022 Gday everyone I love to hear from you. Are there any questions on recycling I can help you with. Lets just go go over plastic bags again so everyone is clear. ... All plastic bags, including pet food bags, if your drinking coffee in a jiggler bag, then the plastic wrapper that the bag comes in is plastic, put that in too. In fact all plastic Bags that scrunch but do not reform go into the soft plastics recycle bag, cleaned and dried. You will take your filled bag to woolies or coles And place your bag inside in the redcycle bin. The bags will go to replac where they are melted and turned into various items including outdoor seating for parks and schools, walkways, bollards and fencing that your local councils and school chooks can use instead of cutting down more trees. By doing your bit and recycling soft plastics you are taking more away from landfill whilst keeping streets cleaner, which keeps our waterways cleaner, and our air stays cleaner because we havent cut down any trees. So please, before you throw any soft plastics away to your landfill bin, remember that all soft plastics can be recycled. Even your glad wrap. Just make sure its clean and dry. Thanks for reading, have a great day.

15.01.2022 What a great idea. Less plastic, gotta love that

12.01.2022 So you like fast fashion, then have a look at this. Although it's in America and Canada, this is happening everywhere in the world. We need to rethink the way we look at fast fashion.

10.01.2022 Hi everyone just thinking about the amount of money we spend on perfumes for personal use, our homes, cars or offices, even the perfumes that are used in shampoos, conditioners, body lotions and our laundry powders. If you have Netflix and an hour of time to spend, take a look in the docos for a presentation called stink, do youself a favour, it will open your eyes on what goes into making things smell nice. have you ever wondered what makes perfume so expensive if it la...sts on your skin a lot longer than a cheep perfume. Pits whale vomit. There are people who travel the oceans to pick up whale vomit to sell to perfume makers. It makes perfume laston your skin longer. See more

09.01.2022 Good morning Zero Wasters. So what can we do to help our quest for as close to zero waste as we can get it. Some tips for Your landfill bin. There are materials that are not recyclable Rubber bands... Pill packets Mixed material Packaging. Then there are materials that you think aren't recyclable but they are. Individual tea packets with the silver inside, this is just a plastic paint and you are able to put these in the redcycle bin. In fact, any scrunchable plastic container that has the silver inside is only a spray on plastic. Place these packets in with the redcycle plastic bags not in your land fill bin. Making sure that your redcycle bags are clean and not wet as they go mouldy while they wait to be melted into more products. If you purchase butter in foil, you are able to take the inside paper off and recycle the foil in with your aluminium items. So take your time when deciding whether it is landfill or recyclable. There isn't to much that isn't recyclable these days. Any questions, fire away, i'm here to help. See more

09.01.2022 G'day Zero Waste Hero's As we learn more about the nature of Glysophate and the potential to harm not only humans and animals alike, I've set forth to find a recipe that nature can provide with a little help from dish washing liquid. I'll put up a recipe for dish washing liquid without the chemicals also.... PESTICIDE FREE WEED KILLER Forget Glysophate and use this. 4 ltrs of White vinegar 2 Cup of Epsom salts 200 mls, dish washing detergent 1 x 9 litre plastic bucket for mixing Step 1. In a bucket mix all ingredients, stirring with a wooden spoon until combined. Step 2. Put into spray pack and go do your spraying. The weed spray effects will take 24 hours to process on your weeds, so check next day. Be careful that you only spray what you want to kill. The mixture will kill all plants that come in contact with the weed spray. You may need one or two applications as a natural product may not be as effective on some weeds or grasses as others, but at least you won't be harmed by it. Good luck.

09.01.2022 G'day everyone. I did some research into our bins on the Sunshine Coast; the park and street bins I mean. I talked to the company who empties our bins, these bins being landfill and recycling bins. Both of these bins are emptied into landfill and are not recycled at all. The reason why these bins are not sorted and recycled is that people don't follow the rules of recycling and put anything into the recycling bin. It is disappointing to think that there are a lot of people no...t understanding about what they should do with their rubbish outside of their homes. Just as disappointing is the fact that our Councils expect everyone to know what goes on with the red and yellow bins. How about some pictures to allow at least some reference as to what goes in the bins. The tourists on holidays do not understand what a yellow or red bin means. So I propose as the Japanese do, a new way of thinking about your rubbish outside of your home that is really simple. When you go out to the park or you buy something and eat in the park, take your rubbish home with you. If your taking bottles or cans with you, take them home and recycle them into either the exchange system or your bin. Keep a small plastic bag with you for your rubbish if you should eat an ice cream etc. This is how the Japanese do their rubbish. They also have a far more sophisticated bin system in public buildings than we currently do, which is why taking our rubbish home with us makes more sense and is currently the best method to reducing landfill for our communities. We need to start taking responsibility for our own rubbish because those people we give it to are not totally competent. See more

08.01.2022 Hi there everyone If in your journey to live a lighter, healthier planet experience, here are some links to help you find the healthier planet equipment you may need. Remember eliminating single use plastic from our lives will not only benefit Earth but save you $ in the long run. As the price of fuel goes up and up, does that single use bottle or plastic knife and fork or plate you just used become our burden. That item is made from the fuel we use in our motor vehicles. ...If you find you have to buy a water bottle for what ever reason, make sure it's one made using recycled plastic. They're even available, even at Coles. Healthy life everyone. https://www.etsy.com/shop/wanderlightly https://www.onyalife.com/products/ http://boomerangbags.org/shop/

07.01.2022 G'day Zero Waste Hero's Looks like a few warm days coming up, so stay hydrated. I wasn't sure if everyone got the last page of the enzyme cleaner, (ENZO) so I'll post it for you. It will help you with quantities for different applications. I'm going to try cleaning my car next. I think it should work perfectly with a micro fibre cloth. This time I'll do a before and after photo to show the difference.... I also wanted to post to you the different areas I cover in my workshops, of course those who know me know it won't be boring and there's always something more to add. See more

05.01.2022 Hi there stars, here are another group of people putting their best feet and hands forward to keep environmental responsibility at the forefront of our minds. Don't drop your litter. Take soft plastics home and put it in your soft plastics bin, bound for coles or woolworths.

03.01.2022 Hi Everyone, just posting the containers for change here so you all have a chance to see where you can take your containers if you choose to. This is also the information you will need to let you know what containers are able to be dropped off at the refund points. There is only one cash point and that is in Caloundra, by the looks, all other refunds done using EFT via a scheme id.... I would suggest it will take a moment to set up. https://www.containersforchange.com.au/where-can-i-return See more

02.01.2022 As you know I am passionate about recycle, re-use and how we manage to keep our environments clean and clear of unwanted rubbish, especially in the oceans where... our rubbish should never be. There are those who have traditions who must not understand the value of our beautiful back yard and what it stands for not only in beauty, richness and rareness but also it keeps Mooloolaba healthy, wealthy and wise. Please be aware about your rubbish and what it means to all of us to keep it out of the water. We all live together as a community, so be mindful of others whilst you walk the planet. See more

02.01.2022 Interesting experiment showing the power of bokashi composting

01.01.2022 Gd'ay Zero Waste Hero's OMG!!!!!!!!!! Remember a few weeks ago I posted about an enzyme cleaner you could make yourself using ingredients from your pantry, and the by product of eating citrus, ie; citrus peels, well guess what? My batch is ready and it's bloody amazing. I'm going to make some more for down the track. It makes around a litre but you don't need too much in your mixture. I did post the amounts for each situation, you may need more for the big jobs. It cleans everything, Well, you know almost everything, lol. My shiny porcelain tiles are spotless no streaks yeh. After you have sieved out the liquid you can turn the peel pulp left over into a scrub by adding Carb Soda and using a stick, blitzing a bit to a paste. BRILLIANT! So happy it's worked
