22.01.2022 So you all know Rusty's Markets, but do you know who "Rusty" was? Rusty’s is named after the late Emrys Rusty Rees, who developed & expanded the market into... the mega event it is today. Back then in February 1975, it was renowned as a Hippie Hangout, with people gathering to play guitars & bongo drums. There was a vibrant vibe of shopping amongst coconut cracking! Rusty's vision was to create not only a market, but a meeting place where people come together. It has changed hands since then, however the new owners, Gilligan's Hotel and Resort, have faithfully carried on the tradition & Rusty’s continues to offer it’s weekly delights to shoppers & tourists alike.
