16.01.2022 From Councillor David Clifton to YAI last night. Great news, thank you David and Tablelands Regional Council. I’m pleased to advise that today the TRC approved the planning and construction of disability access to the Foodworks. So its only taken 8 years but its approved and will be built in this budget cycle sometime before June next year.... Regards David

12.01.2022 Welcome to the new 2020/21 Yungaburra Association Inc. Committee On a cold and wet 15 September 2020 evening, the Yungaburra Association Incorporated (YAI) held its annual general meeting at the Yungaburra Community Hall. Though the weather outside boarded on inclement, the mood inside was warm and jovial. This year’s meeting resulted in the election of a new management committee made up of Yungaburra residents prepared to take on important roles in the association. Michael ...Hodgkins was elected as the president for the coming year and made special mention of the role of John Pollock who has been the acting president for the past two years. Under John’s leadership the association has seen a time of recent growth where there has been a significant number of new business and community members joining the association. YAI aims to encourage and assist the community through promotion, development and coordination of community events and projects in and around Yungaburra. An example of this development is the new Yungaburra Visitors Signboard, a large advertising sign in the centre of Yungaburra which will display a map of the area along with local business information, things to do and places to see. Advertising spots on this board are still available to businesses in the area. Other support to the community has consisted of auspicing funding applications and supporting local events. The association also manages yungaburra.com, one of the highest-ranking websites on the Atherton Tablelands. Yungaburra.com showcases the Atherton Tablelands and in particular the Yungaburra township, local business, and surrounding areas. The association has also proved to be an effective link between government and the community and where practical will provide comment to government on the community’s wishes. If anyone would like to know more about Yungaburra Association, please contact the secretary through email [email protected] Newly elected from left to right: Karyn Bliesner (secretary), Ken Jack (vice-president), Jan De Lai (treasurer), John Pollock (community engagement), Michael Hodgkins (president), Clayton Doyle (business development), Rolf Straatemeier (communications officer)
