25.01.2022 As part of the redevelopment, the former shelter (adjacent the bar) was relocated to the cricket oval where it replaced the old bamboo structure. Waste not, want not!
21.01.2022 This rebuild is really taking shape. 14 enthusiastic volunteer helpers today!
20.01.2022 Saturday 30th January saw a remarkable effort by 18 local volunteers and city visitors to install the insulation and the roof sheeting on the entire building - all before lunch! Wouldn’t it be interesting to compare this stunning project, to a govt contract?! Quicker, cheaper, just as professional....but much more fun! Even the satellite dish was relocated in quick time. Hey Claire, we found your lost jumper!!
18.01.2022 So many jobs to do in the lead-up to race day! Hope to see lots of folk on Saturday. Forecast temp is a delightful 20 degrees.
17.01.2022 What an amazing day we had in 2019. Magnificent weather, good crowd of fun-lovin' folk, lots of stalls and things to do. Huge thanks to the dozens of helpers; we couldn't do it without you. And special thanks to our wonderful competitors and sponsors. More pics later.
17.01.2022 So, how is everyone coping with their isolation restrictions? Not much is different for us in remote areas; but indeed we have had to adjust - and are doing it well. A big shout out to our willing sponsors of the (now cancelled/postponed) 2020 Yunta Races/Gymkhana. Nearly all have kindly trusted us to retain their monies until we DO host our fabulous annual event!! We are still waiting to hear from a few - but we thank all for their support!... Our next Race day will feature some mighty new facilities for all to enjoy! Stay tuned... - and stay well!
14.01.2022 And now we have end walls, with super insulation! A solid 3 days...in testing weather conditions. And now it’s raining....yippee!
14.01.2022 A spectacular effort at the raceclub today with our volunteers starting on the mighty erection (?)!!
14.01.2022 We had a busy day at the Yunta Racecourse today! You could say ‘we brought the house down’.... but we did end the day with an ‘open bar’!! Do not be alarmed; you won’t believe the BIG PLANS we have for a new, beaut complex. Stay tuned!
09.01.2022 We'll be all ready for tomorrow's race day! Come and have a delicious Steak Sandwich with us!
08.01.2022 Seems the girls didn’t know that the kitchen was going to be half demolished!!
08.01.2022 The rebuild has passed a milestone; roofing has begun.
07.01.2022 Another big effort at the racecourse today - in horrendous weather conditions. 13 fronted up to work a long day today, as well as the (essential!) catering ladies. Lots of dozing and drilling - and the last of the demolition done on a dastardly dusty day.
05.01.2022 And here is our last update for 2020. Friday and Saturday saw the structure gain strength. The usual volunteers were led by Chris’s workers Jake, Cameron and Nathan...oh and Winno, who gave us a demo in how not to reverse a ute!!! Let’s hope 2021 will be a good year for all and Yunta’s new Clubhouse will be the scene of plenty of events and fun! YeeHaa!
05.01.2022 Another Saturday of progress at the Club; this time in cold, misty conditions!!! Fourteen fabulous fabricators and food fillies on the job.
05.01.2022 Look how far we’ve come!! There’ll be more progress this weekend; thanks to the massive efforts of our wonderful volunteers! ALSO, this Saturday will see the ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the YUNTA RACE CLUB, 4.30pm. We look forward to an enthusiastic gathering! See you there!
04.01.2022 Our kind volunteers are saddling up for another big event at the track this Saturday. Gates open 10am and we expect a strong field to jump into a steeplechase of activity. We will continue the clubhouse rebuild works with quite a bit planned for the day. BYO blinkers and PPE. Workers and all locals will be ‘put out to pasture’ in the evening when the Peterborough Rotary Club treat us to a BBQ Tea and outdoor movie ( The Lighthorseman!)! BYO feedbag and trough for the late fee...d. Thanks to all supporters of this mighty endurance event!
01.01.2022 An exciting stage today; the first cement pour! It’s going to be a looong building!!!
