25.01.2022 What’s the biggest problem facing teenagers today and could yours be facing the same problem? More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease, COMBINED. Each day in our nation, there are an average of over 5,240 attempts by young people from grades 7-12. Australia has one of the highest rates of teenage suicide, where approximately 8 teenagers take their own lives ea...ch week, many of which are in NSW This is not a statistic we should accept as part and parcel of life! The death of a child is not like that of an adult. It leaves parents feeling raw, feeling responsible for not knowing there was something wrong (guilt), and often it comes after a period of happiness in the child. This is often contributed to the fact that once the child has found a solution to their problems they can live the remainder of their lives in happiness. So what can a parent do? First, parents must take a more active role the lives of their children. Expecting school or some other external entity to take care of the growing needs is ignorant at best and totally irresponsible at worst. As the parent, you know your child better than anyone and yes, better than their friends. My sincerest advice is to trust your gut instinct if you feel something is not quite right, then it’s not. After that, gently yet surely start engaging with your child in a positive, nurturing, caring and above all else, patient manner do not throw yourself at them intrusion, perceived or real, on your child’s part is a sure fire way of locking yourself out of their lives. As each situation and child is different, I cannot give you a step by step on what needs to be done in a simple Facebook post. What I would suggest is that once you feel you have a connection with your child, seek external help. Counselling has time and time again proven to be of immense value and resulted in tremendously positive outcomes. Seek help there is no shame or pride in this. In the end, you’ll be thankful you did so. If you have any concerns or would like to know more, please visit my website www.yvetteallen.com.au and talk to me. See more

22.01.2022 Nearly one in two Australians are afflicted with this condition are you one of them? In Australia, it's estimated that 45 per cent of people will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime. In any one year, around 1 million Australian adults have depression and over 2 million have anxiety. The symptoms of anxiety may not be that obvious as they often develop slowly over time and given we all experience some anxiety at various points in our lives, it can be hard ...to know how much is too much. Normal anxiety tends to be limited in time and connected with some stressful situation or event, such as a job interview. This is normal and we all need some degree of anxiety to function and even survive. It’s the fight or flight syndrome within us all. Confronted with a raging bush fire, our instincts tell us to run for the sake of safety. The type of anxiety experienced by people with an anxiety condition is more frequent or persistent, not always connected to an obvious challenge, and impacts on their quality of life and day-to-day functioning. While each anxiety condition has its own unique features, there are some common symptoms including: Physical: panic attacks, hot and cold flushes, racing heart, tightening of the chest, quick breathing, restlessness, or feeling tense, wound up and edgy Psychological: excessive fear, worry, catastrophizing, or obsessive thinking Behavioural: avoidance of situations that make you feel anxious which can impact on study, work or social life These are just some of a number of symptoms that you might experience. I have written a simple, easy to read self-help book on Dealing with Panic Attacks. Feel free to download it from my website; www.yvetteallen.com.au. Alternatively, as a trained counsellor in numerous practices, I can help you overcome your anxiety and successfully deal with panic attacks. Talk to me. See more

15.01.2022 I am so thankful to professor Gordon Emmerson for teaching me Resource Therapy. It has helped so many of my clients for so many varied problems. 14.01.2022 Are you inviting the Coronavirus into your body Posted by Yvette Allen on 13 March 2020 How stress and anxiety can weaken your immune system Almost every conversation I have listened to includes fear, or information on the Coronavirus. Whilst it is a highly contagious virus, it is much more likely to affect people with a low immune system. Stress and anxiety can deplete your bodies immune system, to a point where you will almost be inviting it in. So what can you do to com...bat the stress and fear of catching it. Steps to follow Every day when you wake tell yourself that you are healthy and staying healthy. Now whilst this does not put up a screen, our unconscious mind will work to keep your body healthy. Take precautions. Wash your hands regularly. Don't hold on to banisters or railings when you are out. If you need to sanitise before and after. Use sanitiser on trolleys. Sanitise your hands after handling money. If you are really concerned, then perhaps wear a cotton glove on your dominent hand when you are out, and cover this with a disposable rubber glove. Wash hands regularly. If you see someone sneeze, stay away from them, 6 feet away is the recommended distance I believe. Remember that what you say to yourself turns into your wishes. So STAY POSITIVE. ABOVE ALL REMEMBER, that the death rate from Coronavirus is less than that of many other things. If you are elderly or infirm perhaps order your shopping online. People in China are recovering from the virus and being discharged from hospital. The virus may have run its course just like any other virus. Take precautions with your habits, but above all get a positive mindset to strenghten your immunity. Stay healthy.

14.01.2022 Can anybody help? I know of a wonderful 80 year old gentleman friend who has a German Shepherd Dog and a Cockatoo bird as pets. He has recently retired and has now been given notice to leave his flat. His life is his dog and bird, he is delightful and a very kind person. He has very little money and now is forced to try and find new accommodation. If you know of anyone who has a small place to rent, or a society that may be able to help, could you please let me know. Thanking you in advance for your help.

11.01.2022 There are many ways to show your love and many preferences as to how we like love shown. Some people like to hear the words I love you , some like to be shown in little ways, like a stroke on the face or a hand on your shoulder, some like to be shown by acts, like helping with housework and chores and many just need a hug. Do you and your partners choices match? Perhaps it is time to find out. Contact Yvette Allen to make an appointment

09.01.2022 Yesterday made a booking at the Cottonwood hotel at Mildura via Booking.com. Received confirmation number and arrived at hotel after a six hour drive tone told we did not have a booking. Also that we were the third people who arrived there to be told they did not have a booking. No hotel to be found in Mildura and ended up having to drive on into NSW to get a room. My lesson learned was to confirm direct with hotel. Very disappointed with Booking.com

08.01.2022 I am sharing this from my cousin’s wall, but having lost my father and a fiancé to cancer, and having been with my partner, a long-term cancer survivor, and seeing him deal with the after effects of chemo for the rest of his life, I know a little of what they went through in suffering from this disease. In the most difficult moments of life, you can tell who are the real friends or the people who really appreciate you. Unfortunately most of the friends abandon you and may se...nd you a "like" but in reality don't read.... I have decided to post this message to support some very special people that fought to the end with firmness, and energy. Taught us to live each day as if it was their last and most beautiful day! Now I'm watching the ones who will take the time to read this post until the end. Cancer is very invasive and destructive to our bodies, even after treatment is finished your body continues to fight with itself trying to rebuild all the damage caused by chemo and radiation. It's a long process. Please, in honor of some of your family members or friends who died or are fighting cancer, or even those who had cancer but are healed, please copy and paste on your page. Everyone says: "if you need anything, don't hesitate to call me, I'll be there for you". If you feel like sharing this, to show your support for those with cancer, their loved ones and survivors, I would appreciate it. Thank you! In loving memory of my grandfather and mother who fought and die fighting this disease.

08.01.2022 Look out for my posts on 9 and 12 June 2017 and please share them with your FB friends. Many thanks
