24.01.2022 Happy Father's Day Boys.

22.01.2022 Another friend has passed today. Rick Keam perhaps never received the kudos and acknowledgement I felt he deserved as one of Australia’s most innovative and cri...tical thinking fly Tyers. Many younger flyfishers would have possibly never heard of him, and much of that anonymity was because he never sought out fame or promoted himself even though a few of us thought this was a travesty. Like a number of other truly innovative fly tyers who pursue excellence for its own sake and who just wanted an even break, he was taken advantage of by rogue operators who took his patterns and had them copied (usually very poorly) in overseas sweat shops and as such he received little recognition and no financial compensation. Rick was a perfectionist, this was obvious in his flies, but also less known in his research of our fishing history and his editing skills that often turned a sows ear into a silk purse. Rest In Peace mate, you’ll be missed. I treasure the personal notes and flies Rick bestowed on me over the years. See more
