19.01.2022 For schools and individuals. Come and meet Jess and Digby and hear her amazing story and you will also get the chance to interact with Digby. Horses are a great way to build confidence, help with our wellbeing and mental health. When we mention iconic Australian horses many of us think of Phar Lap and his stuffed body that resides in the Melbourne Museum. What if we told you that we know of another remarkable Australian horse who is still alive and will be coming to visit the... town his owner grew up in - Beulah. Just last year in the outback Northern Territory one of the last remaining original bloodline war horses, Digby, was found alive and even thriving on extraordinarily little food and water. Digby along with 19 others of his herd were captured and trucked 2000km to Victoria where they each found new homes and began the adjustment into living among humans. Digby's new job was to share the history of war including the raw essence of mateship, resilience, and belief in something bigger than oneself with his Australian community. On Thursday November 19th you will be able to meet Digby and hear about his ancestor’s role in World War 1, how he survived in the outback, his 2000km journey to Victoria and becoming a horse of the people. If you are interested in your students attending a session with Digby and his owner Jessica Liston please send a session request and the number of students that you would like to attend.
