25.01.2022 Cool, a new toy arrived while eating my lunch. Lets do some tests! :D

23.01.2022 If this isn't the smallest ITX computer in the world, I seriously don't know what is. This thing is tiny. Took me about $200 (excluding RAM and HDD/SSD's) and about 15 minutes to put together. Beautiful little system. Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-J1900N-D3V CPU - Onboard Intel Celeron J1900... Memory - 2x4gb EVM DDR3 1333MHz SoDIMM Case - Antec ISK110 VESA PSU - 90W Integrated All mounted on the back of my servers' 19" monitor. Completely fan-less, so there is literally no noise to this thing. Beautiful.

22.01.2022 Things are slowly coming together... :3 LOOK FORWARD TO GOOD THINGS AT ZTHQ!

22.01.2022 Some welcomed additions to the ZachTech family :)

21.01.2022 iOS 9 Public Beta is out, and i've been using it for a few days. First thoughts, nothing special and just another upgrade. But it feels more than that. The new 'jump back' feature is a handy new addition when an app opens another app, and you want to get back The upgraded Notes app seems quite handy being able to take more intuitive notes, adding photos check-lists and custom drawings per note. Not being an avid note-taker, haven't had many encounters with the new app so c...an't say much. The upgraded Multitasking feature is extremely handy, and feels alot more natural than iOS 8. The Music app introduced in iOS 8.4 should have waited until iOS 9 in my opinion, since there is no difference at the moment. Not having an OSX machine, i can't test out the Handoff feature, so i'll leave that be. Same deal with CarPlay, unfortunately. The updated native keyboard is alot more precise (although I use SwiftKey) and having two sets of visual characters on the keycaps is a godsend. The current beta-font for the top task bar looks a bit dodgy, but thats usual. tl;dr - I recommend iOS 9. If you feel like trying it out before the official release, give the Beta a shot. Google is your friend.

21.01.2022 Incredible developments being made in ZachTechs' latest collaboration with Josh from BurnsIT ;D

20.01.2022 Here it is, the awaited Windows X (or Windows 10, however you wish to call it). Alot of love-hate going on with this, not just from myself. But what I think they've tried to do is merge Windows 7 and Windows 8. Not sure if its worked or not. Guess we'll wait and see...

19.01.2022 ZachTech finally has a new infrastructure! (and an old touchpad heh) 16 port Gigabit mountable slimline switch. ALL TEH ETHERNET!

19.01.2022 People may hate Logitech, but they do please me with most of their G-related products. And this one, I thoroughly enjoy. Very happy purchase <3

18.01.2022 Some parts arrived. I think i'm set for tonight :3 TIME TO BUILD!

17.01.2022 Case - ThermalTake Urban T31 Mid Tower Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H B3 CPU - Intel Core i5 3570K CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Hydro Cooler 240mm Radiator GPU - 2x Asus HD4870 Dark Horse Edition 1024mb XFire... RAM - 8gb G.Skill Ripjaws X 1600MHz PSU - Thermaltake Toughpower XT 775W Modular HDD - 32gb SanDisk mSATA SSD (Onboard) This is why I hate cable management. Going to warp the side case trying to get it over all the cables. On another note, damn beautiful build.

16.01.2022 So i'm headed to the Nvidia celebration next month. Woot!

15.01.2022 My baby got an upgrade :3 I feel like a bit of a Corsair fanboy... But goddamn, they know how to make a part look good. Much recommend. Yes, I know she needs one hell of a clean, but that is coming. Respawn LAN is coming up next weekend, so she'll be nice and shiny for that! Now for the full outfit:... Case - Corsair Graphite 380T (Custom Gunmetal) PSU - OCZ ZX850W 80+Gold Mobo - Gigabyte GA-Z97N-WIFI RAM - G.Skill RipjawsX 16GB 2133MHz (2x8GB) CPU - Intel Core i5-4670K @ 4.4GHz CPU Cooler - Corsair Hydro H100i GPU - EVGA GTX780ti SC 3gb GPU Cooler - Corsair HG10-N780 & Corsair Hydro H60 SE SSD - Samsung 850 Evo 512GB HDD - WD Black 750gb 2.5" HDD - WD Green 2TB 3.5" SSHD - Seagate 1TB 2.5"

13.01.2022 Up for sale! HyperX DDR3 16gb Dual Channel!

12.01.2022 What is your opinion on all these torrent sites being attacked and taken down? Kickass Torrents is the latest site to be struck by the Government Banhammer, but came back from it pretty quickly. Lets see who's next, if any.

11.01.2022 Just finished one of the funnest builds I've done in a long time. For a close mate, so he sorta just went all out on the parts for me to put together. Goddamn, this thing is quick...... 10.01.2022 Now this is a setup worth bragging about <3

10.01.2022 Had a play-around with an RX480 today, thanks to Brandon B! Ooh, fun times were had indeed! Such an impressive GPU from the Red team!

10.01.2022 This is how you utilize a GTX1080! Credits to Dan for letting me use his for testing ;D

09.01.2022 The Corsair Graphite 380T White. I bought white, because black was out of stock. Realized on the drive home that I could do so much with a white case. Gunmetal Grey it was. This is the outcome. ... I seriously cannot wait to put my 4670K and GTX780ti in this beast. Shall be amazing. See more

09.01.2022 Fuck yeah. Got Australias' first look at the GTX1060. EXPECT GOOD STUFF. Also VR is amazing.

09.01.2022 My first HTPC build, and I have to say, I did enjoy putting this beasty rig together. Intel Pentium G3240 @ 3.1GHz Corsair XMS3 2x2gb (4gb Kit) DDR3 ASRock H97M-ITX/ac w/ Bluetooth 4.0 Silverstone 450W SFX PSU (The smallest PSU I've ever seen)... Gigabyte GeForce GT240 1gb (Just for media decoding) All packed neatly inside the beautiful Silverstone Milo Series ML07 HTPC ITX Gaming Case. Very impressed with how this little thing goes. Ran a stress test for 15 minutes, did not reach over 50deg, even in my room. For people looking for a Windows-based home-theatre PC, this is seriously the way to go.

08.01.2022 Up for grabs. Dell Inspiron 1545. Nothing wrong, just gave it a wipe down with a cloth. This is the most unused basic laptop I have ever seen. Hard drive is barely used. Great catch for a student needing something basic for homeworks. 4gb DDR2... Pentium Dual Core T4200 @ 2GHz Intel GMA4500MHD Graphics Currently running Windows Vista OEM, but able to have a choice between Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows XP or Ubuntu. $200~ Negotiable See more

07.01.2022 So I somehow got an official ISO for Windows 10. Been using it on my old i5-2450M Lenovo laptop just to give it a feel on a real system instead of a virtual machine. And goddamn, this thing runs smooth. Unlike iOS9 Beta at the moment, there has not been a single hiccup yet. No lag swapping in and out of Tablet Mode (quite handy), and going in and out of different apps in different Workspaces (FINALLY) has an incredibly natural feel to it. The new Microsoft Edge (replaces In...ternet Explorer) browser surprisingly works. As in, I haven't even had a thought to install Chrome and replace it as default. I'm enjoying the new feel, to be honest. Changing the theme to Dark, setting up my opening tabs and changing the default search engine from Bing (yes, again...) to Google, which was a hassle, has made this browser feel like it was meant to be used. And the in-built Adblocker is a godsend. Charms have now disappeared from the right side of the screen, and have now been replaced with the Action Centre, which has a very Android-ey feel to it, yet quite intuitive. Haven't given Cortana a proper shot yet, as I'm not sure if (She)? is available in Australia. The complete redesign of the UI elements within Windows is amazing. During the Insider Beta, I personally had a lot of issues with the general look of Win10. But it seems they've smoothed out all my qualms in this build. Guess it can only get better from here... And what will please most haters, the Start Menu is back, and its' received one hell of an upgrade. There is a setting which is hidden decently deep within PC Settings to make the Start Menu go fullscreen, which I've stopped myself from doing a few times just to get used to the new way of doing things. If you've given Windows 10 a shot, let me know what you think of it. Just under a week now until its official release, so still time for decent feedback for something that generally needs fixing.

07.01.2022 The sole reason Windows 9 does not, and will not, become a thing.

05.01.2022 What to do when your routers' only USB fan decides to blow up. Bolt two 80mm Nanoxia fans to the side. Done.

05.01.2022 This one is a little exciting for me, my first Skylake build :3 Will post benchmarks in comments after I install the OS. CPU - Intel Core i5 6500 @ 3.2GHz Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H... Memory - Corsair Vengance LPX 2133MHz DDR4 (2x4GB) GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 960 2GB SSD - Samsung 850 EVO 250GB M.2 HDD - Seagate Barracuda 2TB PSU - Corsair CX600W Case - Fractal Design Core 1100 See more

04.01.2022 Respawn LAN v32 on Saturday. Who's going?

04.01.2022 This one is actually debatable. It makes sense. Is this how cloud computing works? Is it all a gas-powered SSD cache?

03.01.2022 People, I need some help. What is your browser of choice? I use Chrome, mainly for the extension compatibility, and most/all sites I go to actually work, unlike Firefox or IE (because no one likes IE). I'm looking for a low-resource browser that runs Java/Flash/HTML5 for Youtube and other sites. On my main rig with 8gb RAM (need moar moneys to get 16gb again), Chrome uses up near-to 4gb of my memory. Firefox just doesn't suit my needs, and IE, well yeah. ... Thinking of converting to Maxthon, but the sharing capabilities of Chrome just reign supreme. Any ideas? See more

03.01.2022 Kay, so theres this 'bug' that has just sort of appeared out of nowhere for iOS devices, where you send an iDevice a certian string of unicode characters which causes the iMessage app to crash concurrently after rebooting the phone. This is quite surprising to me, considering its only popped up now... Anyways, here's the fix if it happens to you. Use Siri to send a message to yourself to 'cancel' out the last string, or get the person who sent you the reboot 'code' to send you another text.

03.01.2022 Well people, been a few months since my last post. Just letting you know that I'm still around if you need any work done. Give me a call, shoot me a text, send me an email, or do that snail-mail thing, if that even still exists. Whats excited you most lately in the world of Technology?
