This is a fantastic way of introducing students to coding, but also a fun way for putting their science and mathematics theory into practical exercises to help stimulate learning and memory retention. If you have been watching the news over the weekend, a massive ransomware outbreak called WannaCry hit Europe and many other continents including some businesses here in Australia.... Ransomware is a malicious piece of software that locks files on a computer and demands payments to unlock them. The attackers are asking for $300USD to unlock your system if attacked, and there is no other way to recover locked data when encrypted! What makes WannaCry even more dangerous, is that it only takes one computer on your network to be infected and it will spread throughout the rest of the network computers and servers. What should I do to protect my business? 1. Ransomeware is primarily distributed by email. Educate your staff to NOT open any email if they are not sure who the sender is. If they do know the sender and the attachment name seems unusual, DO NOT OPEN without verbally checking with the sender first. Ransomeware can be in PDF and Office documents, as soon as you open it, you execute the virus and its too late. 2. The virus only attacks Microsoft Operating systems and mainly older versions. Microsoft have provided security patches with their latest Windows Updates. Make sure you run a Windows Update immediately. 3. Ensure your Antivirus is current and up to date. 4. Have a reliable backup service. Make sure you have a complete backup of all your data on an external device, and or a cloud backup service. 5. Only download software from trusted sources. 16.01.2022 Well you always come across systems with quite a few threats, but this one is a record for me. Dont let your system be corrupted by viruses or malware, there are some simple and free steps to keep your system healthy: 1. Make sure you have an active antivirus software installed. 2. Dont click on popups or anything that says "You have viruses, click here to remove" or any other sus popup. 3. Install a free copy of Malwarebytes Anti-malware www.malwarebytes.org . We were approached by Tasmanian Race caller Shane Yates to provide a creative solution for providing individual race video clips for displaying his top four selections and statistics. The videos are then displayed for viewing on the Tasracing website form and live feeds before each race.
