Inspiration and relevance are great, but engagement is what really haves them feeling the love. Customers feel seen, valued and understood. Inspiration - Relevance - Engagement.

14.01.2022 Are you planning for success or mediocrity? I hang out at trade shows all the time (not in a creepy way) and I see this over and over again. Exhibitors surprised and caught off guard when a customer wants to sign up, make a big purchase or close a deal. Your customer journey MUST include a plan for outrageous success, why not? Or are you simply shooting for mediocre results?

13.01.2022 Building industry suppliers: Your showroom is your opportunity to let visitors see that you are 100% convinced your product is the best freaking product out there. BUT. You must be customer focused. Arrogant showrooms don't work, trust us, we have seen hundreds of them fail. You must come from a position of showcasing your amazing product in relation to YOUR CUSTOMERS needs. Yes your product can be a hero, but it is your customers story they care about, not yours.... So humbly Inspire, connect and engage to understand your customers needs, and then frame your product as the best, or only, option they have for their story to come true. This display for Indusfloor is one of my all time favorites. It has a beautiful feel to it, it treats its product like rock stars, yet it is fully customer focused. It screams 'How can WE bring YOUR dreams to life.'

13.01.2022 Pre-setups for custom displays are crucial, to ensure the onsite install is a smooth seamless process. Every display and fitout we undertake is custom designed and made, so we need to ensure all the bugs are ironed out before we head onsite. Delays at tradeshows are expensive, delays at showrooms are disruptive, so we plan to avoid both.

Too many companies make the mistake of creating showrooms that are all about them, not about the customers needs. You have a captive audience, if you spend the whole time blowing your own trumpet you will lose them. Successful showrooms, Like this display we created for PGH, speak directly to the customers needs, wants and desires as soon as they walk through the door.

12.01.2022 Building industry suppliers have very unique needs and challenges when it come to their display spaces, (showrooms, selection centers and tradeshow displays). They have multiple audiences to address - - Consumers, from first home owners to Mums + Dad. - Designers + Architects... - Specifiers and builders. - Franchisees and resellers. And each of these has very different needs, some are interested in how your products looks, some in how easy it is to install, some in its properties and energy ratings, some in its resell-ability (yes, that's a word).Wow, that's a lot to consider. Its no wonder so many showrooms and tradeshow displays in this industry are cluttered and messy, that is a lot of information and needs to meet in a nice clean simple display. Strategic planning and design experience are critical to achieving a winning solution. All factors need to be considered, allowed for and addressed for your display spaces to work, close sales and deliver results.

It doesn't need to be over the top or expensive, it is often those people that simply take the time and care (to give a shit about their customers) that create the most memorable experiences. 10.01.2022 Simple, but not easy.

10.01.2022 Why is face to face marketing so scary? Because there is nowhere to hide. You see it's easy to BS on your website, on your brochures, in the slick and edited content you generate from the safety of your office. You can claim to be 'Cutting edge', 'Disruptive', 'design led', 'World leading', 'Industry leading', 'Innovative' or anything you want to be actually, pick some photos that affirm your claim and you are good to go, who is going to argue with you. But when it comes to t...radeshow, exhibitions and events it's not so easy to make bold claims without being able to back them up. Are you really Innovate, really? Really cutting edge, Really the industry leader? maybe you once were, maybe you would like to be, but right here right now, as you stand face to face with a potential customer, they will call bullshit in a heartbeat if they smell a false claim, and no brochure or slick website can save you at that point. What you can be though is 'authentic ' 'genuine ' Honest'. Be true to yourself, and don't try to be anyone other than you. I see too many companies fail at tradeshows and events because they are so caught up in pretending to be who they want to be or once were, that they undervalue who they are right here right now.

09.01.2022 One of the best ways to create an immediate emotive impact is to display your products in a unique and beautiful way. Using different colour and texture can create a totally different feel in a display space.

08.01.2022 - BE BRAVE - If I swapped out the company logos from most trade show displays or showrooms with another companies logo you would not even notice, so many display spaces are generic, boring and safe. The reason for this is often found in companies having little or no confidence, clarity and certainty about their brand (Who they are) so they go with a watered down generic display to please as many people as possible. They don't know what to ask their designers/builders for or give much direction, so often end up with something that is 'good enough'. Companies that smash it at trade shows though are unapologetic about they are, who they target and who they don't. If I put another logo on their display you would know right away. Have confidence in your brand, Be bold, be brave BE YOU.

06.01.2022 On this RUOK? day, maybe one of the most important people you can ask the question to is ... Yourself. Am I ok? The exhibit/event industry we work in is fast paced, non-stop and stressful, with crazy time frames and expectations. It requires truck loads of resilience, late nights and long days. And most of the people in this industry are amazingly pragmatic, creative people who get done more than what often seems humanly possible, and seem to be able to shoulder super human p...ressure daily. But ... we are not robots. For many many reasons, many of us often find it easier to deal with other people having a hard time than we do confronting the real truth, that we ourselves are not actually doing OK either Don't just extend that question, understanding and compassion to others, extend it to yourself. Its OK to not be OK.
