09.01.2022 To support my register versus not register and for Australia to go Opt-Out- (Zaidee's Law) the below reflects that more people donated that were not registered than those that were registered. For the 2019 report which is the latest data available. Because we are happy to say yes to donation more times at the end of life if we are not registered than if we are. people who donated in 2019 that did register = 164 people who donated in 2019 and was not register = 363 people who ...donated in 2018 that did register = 197 people who donated in 2018 and was not register = 333 So why have a register and not go Opt-Out - simply for these above figures reflect 122% more people donated in 2019 and 69% in 2018 did not feel they needed to register to be a donor? That is what the Opt-Out system is all about - if you don't wish to be a donor then sign a form to say no - rather than say yes. Even more so, only one person registered to say no over these two years - just goes to show if we did go Opt-Out we would be miles in front for potential donors versus those that are registered today or will ever be registered into the future. Note - I do hold a registration card since 2000. As did Zaidee since she was 3 years of age and donated in 2004 - but in 2005 the Federal Government stop children under the age of 16 years from allowing them to be registered. So as I always say, children under the age of 16 in Australia currently sit in the hypothetical Opt-Out system like it or not! As a direct result of this action back in 2005. Yes children under the age of 16 years require parent consent. So does every person registered or not still need family consent no matter what age you are to donate at end of life to be a donor. Everyone can still donate even without being registered - go figure?

07.01.2022 Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation is Australia's leading and most pro active charity in the organ and tissue donation space. Our national call of action, events, programs and projects are designed to engage the community on awareness and education. Our aim is to increase the organ and tissue donation rate to save more lives via donation and transplantation. We also aim to highlight what is happening around the world to help us increase our donation rate. Attached is a short article from Nova Scotia and their take on their new Opt-Out system. 01.01.2022 The results for May 2021 versus 2020 and 2019 and we are behind on all counts - NOT GOOD PEOPLE - even with covid issues back in 2020 we have fallen behind and this year we don't seem to be having covid issues in this sector with operations going ahead as normal. At this rate we are now falling behind the 2016 outcomes for organ donation/transplants. No more in just asking people to register and everything will be OK is the best call of action we can offer. Especially to those waiting for a transplant. Time we go the Opt-Out system now before we fall further behind in years to come. #zaideeslaw
