15.01.2022 How to Iron a Wool Suit: Instructions 1 ... Remove any lint from the wool suit before you start. Check the suit for any signs of wear and tear that may need the attention of a tailor. Avoid pressing any stains on the suit or they may set in permanently. 2 Set up the ironing board. Put water in the iron and set the iron on the "Wool" setting. Let the iron warm up. 3 Flip the collar on the suit. Lightly run the iron over the underside of the collar. Try not to remove the natural fold of the collar. 4 Turn the coat wrong side out. Set the iron so it isnt too hot for the lining fabric. Press the coat from the inside. Start with the inside left piece, move to the back and finish with the inside right piece. Press the sleeves as well. Turn the coat right side out again. 5 Use the press cloth on the outside of the coat to press out any wrinkles you might have missed from the inside. Also touch up the lapels and sleeves. Use the press cloth or else the wool might become shiny. 6 Iron the trousers from the inside. Avoid pressing the pleats and crease out of the wool trousers. Turn the pants right side out again and use the press cloth to set in the crease and pleats again. 7 Hang your freshly pressed wool suit on a hanger designed to hold a mans suit. This helps keep the shoulders shaped properly as well as keeping the wrinkles away.

This will help it retain its shape (especially in the shoulders) and will allow it to air out. 2.After wearing your suit brush it off with a suit brush to remove any lint or hair. You can purchase a suit brush at any suit store. Brush lengthwise from top to bottom. ... 3.Steam clean your suit after wearing, but ...only if needed. This will clean it and remove wrinkles at the same time with the need for ironing. However, only professionally clean your suit if it is dirty or stained. Since cleaning it can cause it to lose shape it should only be cleaned a few times per year. 4.Always have your suits wet-cleaned rather than dry-cleaned when possible. Wet-cleaning doesnt use dangerous chemicals and will help to retain the shape of your suit. 5.When you purchase a suit remove it from the plastic covering once you get home. Plastic can emit fumes which, over time, can weaken the suits fibers. 6.When not using, always store your suit in a garment bag. Be sure the garment bag is ventilated or else the suit could get musty or moldy. 7.If your suit is just wrinkled, but not dirty then have it pressed. Many menswear stores offer this service for little to no charge.
