24.01.2022 Today was my last big wedding of the season at the beautiful Glen Derwent Estate in New Norfolk. I have had 3 cancellations/ postponements, but really, as its the end of the season anyway, so far I’ve come out of this current scary times ok. I REALLY feel for the florists, photographers, caterers, hair and make up professionals, and venue owners (amongst others) who are dealing with last minute cancellations and what that means for their businesses. My beautiful couple toda...y, Claire and Danial, rang me in a panic early this week, I thought to cancel, but no. Whilst their honeymoon was off and there were treasured family that could no longer fly in for celebrations, they just wanted to get married and needed to check if I was still ok to marry them - ABSOLUTELY! It was a slightly smaller affair than they had planned, but the sun was shining, there was plenty of hand sanitizer to go around and there was room for people to choose their distance... There was an abundance of love and tears of happiness as I left them to their alfresco reception. I am SO happy that they decided to go ahead - only possible as it was all planned to be outdoors anyway. I am still open for business and have 2 small weddings next week (just 5 of us) - where there’s a will there’s a way! Congratulations Danial and Claire - you’ll always remember your wedding day! 23.01.2022 Thank you to Connie and Paul for letting me share images from their intimate ceremony late last year.... the couple had travelled down from the mainland so we’d only communicated by email until we met at their wedding. Just us, their 2 witnesses and fabulous photographer (Rosie Hastie Photography) in the increadibly beautiful Battery Point Community Hall (a last minute choice due to inclement weather, but perfect). So much joy!
22.01.2022 It’s been a long time between posts! While corona has hit the wedding industry hard, I have luckily had a number of couples wanting to tie the knot in the simplest of ways. This morning the sun was shining brightly, (though only 5 degrees) as a beautiful couple wed by the water at Long Beach in Sandy Bay with 8 of their closest friends supporting them. What a brilliant way to start the long weekend!
21.01.2022 Magic Tassie summer day for a wedding amongst the olive trees at Rochford Hall, Kellevie - feeling lucky to live in this beautiful and safe corner of the world
21.01.2022 I’ve just returned from the gorgeous wedding of two most fabulous women, Rachel and Colette. So much love and happiness - it was an honour and a joy to be their celebrant Congratulations!!
20.01.2022 Just received this lovely review from a gorgeous couple I married in my office a few weeks ago. It’s been such a tough year and getting feedback like this means EVERYTHING, and reminds me that what I do matters - thank you Ace and Gresh My husband and I engaged Zana for a small, intimate wedding to cement our commitment to each other. Zana was eminently professional, caring and kind. Our day went off without a hitch, largely due to a lot of check ins and informative advice from Zana. Her delivery on the day was calm and welcoming, and it felt as though she was as invested in our big day as we were. We couldn’t recommend her more highly.
20.01.2022 I just conducted the most beautiful wedding - a double wedding! These two happy couples are flat mates and decided to get married together and be each other’s witnesses - just the five of us on a glorious winters day at the Waterworks Reserve - there were tears and lots of laughs - congratulations Ben and Xing, and Xinpeng and Naimeng!
19.01.2022 What a glorious afternoon to celebrate love in the Derwent Valley! Today’s ceremony was at Valleyfield, just out of New Norfolk. This estate has only just started taking wedding bookings and I predict it will become very popular as it is SO beautiful - the gardens were in full blossom and were buzzing with bees and bursting with birdsong... the ceremony was pretty amazing too!
17.01.2022 Today I had the absolute joy and privilege of officiating at a dear friend’s wedding - whilst it was crazy windy, the beautiful bride managed to keep her flower crown in place and there were tears - lots of tears! Wishing you ALL the joy Zoë Alexandra and Callum xxx
17.01.2022 I was just sent these photos from the ‘windiest wedding’ last weekend - there’s just 3 of us holding down the certificates in that photo, but at one stage it took all 5 of us! What a crazy, beautiful, memorable wedding - thanks for sharing these Liz and Steve!
16.01.2022 At Glen Derwent in New Norfolk for my first big wedding of 2020 - what a picture-perfect spot! Makes me think of Wind in the Willows....
13.01.2022 Well this has made my day! Such lovely words from this gorgeous couple.... this is why I love being a celebrant! "Thank you Zana so much for being part of our beautiful day. Many people came up to me and asked if you were part of the family because you were so natural and comfortable. Several people commented on how your words were so genuine and that it was the nicest ceremony they've ever been to. Thank you you really made Damien and I comfortable and it will always be an unforgettable day for us. All the best xx"
13.01.2022 Gosh it’s been a long time between posts! The wedding industry has taken a massive hit Australia wide, Victoria in particular I imagine, but Tassie is also struggling. I used to get so many destination weddings (people flying in for the weekend from interstate to elope or flying all their friends and family in too). These have evaporated, as have all the large local weddings which inevitably had large numbers of guests flying in for the big day. It’s a bit depressing but I kn...ow they’ll come back, and hopefully this time next year I’ll be super busy ... that being said I have a steady trickle of small intimate office/ park/ lounge room weddings which keep reminding me of how much I love doing this. Today I married a gorgeous couple in my sunny office with 6 of their closest friends as witnesses - it was short and incredibly sweet. It doesn’t matter where or how you have your wedding - it’s the celebration of love and the hope for the future that’s important See more
12.01.2022 This afternoon I was lucky enough to marry two beautiful women in this incredible Hobart location - The Avalon City Retreat. I can’t imagine there would ever be bad weather up here - so beautiful!
11.01.2022 Feeling like you want to do some good for the planet and get married at the same time? Why not plant a tree as part of your ceremony? The tree represents growth, something you and your new spouse will do (a lot of!) together. During the ceremony, the couple can place soil from two separate containers on top of the planting, representing two individuals coming together as one.
07.01.2022 Windiest wedding EVER! This morning saw us battling the elements: fierce winds, moody skies and tumultuous seas at Seven Mile Beach for an intimate wedding with just the bride and groom, 2 witnesses and me. The witnesses happened to be a gorgeous couple whom I married 3 years ago. It literally took all five of us to hold down the certificates in my folder as we were trying to sign them! I love that Tassie delivers the most amazing backdrops for every occasion!
05.01.2022 My first time at Curringa Farm in Hamilton - moody skies make for a beautiful backdrop to a gorgeously laid back wedding of Tom and Robyn - congratulations guys!!
04.01.2022 Gorgeous, laid back, late afternoon wedding on Blackmans Bay Beach - Tassie is SO beautiful - we are spoilt for choice for ceremony locations!
04.01.2022 Another weekend, another magical spot in Hobart to celebrate love! This is Kangaroo Bluff in Bellerive with the most incredible views down the Derwent and across to the city and the mountain. I grew up in Hobart and had no idea this place existed!
04.01.2022 I think things have been harder for the wedding industry in Tassie than these numbers suggest. So many couples who wanted their extended families to fly in from interstate to celebrate with them have postponed or cancelled, and all the ‘destination’ weddings (couples popping down to Tas from the mainland to elope) have completely dried up. The GOOD news is that weddings are back, the future (as much as we can predict of it) looks rosy and Tasssie is still one of the most beautiful places to get married! Looking forward to a busier summer/ autumn wedding season
03.01.2022 A beautiful afternoon for a gorgeous festive garden ceremony - my last happy couple for 2019! Wishing all a safe and happy holiday season - I’m excited about all the fabulous weddings planned for 2020!
03.01.2022 So you've planned your wedding and you've decided on a guest list: Now you just have to invite them all! Creating a great wedding invite is very much down to the individual but here are some things to keep in mind: - Does it reflect the type of wedding you are having? (if you are having a very casual wedding, having a very formal invitation might send the wrong message - Does it reflect who you are? (add some flair!) - Does it have all the details? ... Wedding invites can be super expensive but they don't have to be. There are places online like Canva where you can create your own invitations with some pre-made designs that you can then personalise and print at home (or send out for printing).
03.01.2022 Yesterday I had the pleasure of marrying a gorgeous couple at Peppermint Bay Hotel in Woodbridge. Spring showers meant that the planned outdoor ceremony was moved inside, but none of the magic was lost - isn’t this a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony?! 150 happy guests and the couples’ beautiful dog were all in attendance... remember weather doesn’t have to ruin your big day if you have contingency plans in place
03.01.2022 Leap Day Weddings...I didn’t know they were a thing, but I did 3 today! All so different from each other but all beautiful in their own way. A morning ceremony - 5 of us (and 2 kids) under a tree, a backyard gathering in the early afternoon, and a large celebration at Willie Smith’s late this afternoon. I loved all three of them for the different ways love was expressed and celebrated - congratulations to Lauren and Isaac, Paul and Jackie and Bec and Josh - you only have to remember your anniversary every 4 years!
02.01.2022 Today I married this gorgeous couple, almost a year after they were supposed to wed. The sun came out and it was a day worth waiting for - congratulations Tara and Damien!
02.01.2022 Gorgeous review from one of my FAVOURITE 2019 weddings, Zoe and Callum... "Zana made our day truly special. Right from the start, she was organised, attentive and highly knowledgeable. She had many ideas about what we could include in our ceremony and had answers to all our questions about the day. On the day she was calm and collected, keeping this Bride chilled out before the big walk down the aisle. We have had so many compliments about our ceremony, which was personal and just a little bit funny, without being too long (which is exactly what we wanted). I would highly recommend Zana to anyone looking for a celebrant for their special day." photo by Osborne Images
01.01.2022 Here’s a snap from a beautiful little wedding ceremony I officiated last Friday. Crazy weather cleared to blue skies as we walked into Boronia Bay (just south of Kingston Beach), and five minutes after the ceremony it was pouring!
01.01.2022 I just received this beautiful feedback from a couple I married a few days before Christmas - it’s a reminder of why I love being a Celebrant! Ian and I are so grateful for the perfect ceremony Zana created for us. We were initially hesitant about even having a ceremony in front of people because most that we had witnessed seemed over the top for us. Zana listened to our concerns and crafted a laidback ceremony that was intimate, warm and deeply meaningful for ourselves, friends and family. Because of Zana’s incredible work we went from fearing the ceremony to it being the highlight of the day. Thank you so much Zana!
