15.01.2022 Happy Friday to all you flower lovers. Here are a few Eremophilas currently in flower at Zanthorrea.

14.01.2022 We love all the grevillea flowers, and so do the birds and bees! At the moment there are plenty to choose from including these ones: Grevillea Honey Gem, Dorothy Gordon, Red Hooks, Lana Marie, Spirit of Anzac, Outback Sunrise, Sid Cadwell, Scarlet King and Ivory Whip. You can grow them easily in a well drained pot with a good quality native potting mix, or in the ground (just check the pH of the soil is compatible).

13.01.2022 Pink and Green Finger Limes back in stock today! These are an excellent addition to the fruit tree garden, and useful for cooking/baking or adding to a cool drink. They are a prickly shrub, but one that can be kept small in a pot and still give you a good crop. Just make sure they receive regular fertiliser with added trace elements, just like you would a normal lime or orange.... They are in 175mm pots for $32.95. Please call the nursery if you would like one put aside.

12.01.2022 Feature Plant: Eremophila calorhabdos. We have a lovely batch of these eremophilas, commonly called the Red Rod Emu Bush, although ours flower more pink than red.Their long upright stems mean you can grow them in narrow spots, like up against a fence. They prefer a sunny, sandy spot, can tolerate alkaline soils, and are drought and frost tolerant. A very attractive garden specimen, and as an added bonus, flowers can be used for cut flower arrangements.

10.01.2022 Keep a look out for Bobtail lizards this summer! This one was a bit sick and full of ticks, so Graeme took it up to the wonderful people at Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. There they rehabilitated it back to a nice healthy condition as you can see, and we got to release it back into the Zanthorrea gardens. Also watch out for them on the roads as they often like to sunbake somewhere warm and are slow to move out of the way of cars. #careforourwildlife #nativefauna

10.01.2022 We have some beautiful 'New to Zanthorrea' and 'Back in Stock' Grevilleas at the moment! Along with plenty of the old favourites. 03.01.2022 Just in: the Sturt's Desert pea. These plants are looking excellent and full of colour. Growing them can be a little tricky, so here are my tips: 1) Find a sunny position with a well drained improved soil or good native potting mix. 2) Protect from the strong easterly winds, or stake the flowers so they don't get blown around. 3) Water daily in the morning so there is not water on the foliage and stem that can lead to rot.... 4) Enjoy the beautiful flowers all the way through past Christmas. Collect seed for sowing next year spring. Available in a 140mm pot for $11.95 and closer to Christmas in a 200mm pot for $19.95. See more

02.01.2022 You might recognise this one out in the local bush. The Rosy Cone Flower, or Isopogon dubius. They are one of our favourites for their bright pink flowers that look like mini explosions, but also because they are a hardy native that can survive on minimal watering once established. We have a new batch of plants up for sale today, and some more growing on out the back. Or if you just want to have a look or take photos, we have two nice plants near the kids playground that are in full flower.

02.01.2022 Just in, is the extensively revised edition of the Banksias book. It has descriptions and illustrations of all 79 known species and provides history of their discovery, evolution, how to find them and grow them. With some 400 beautiful colour illustrations, it is a comprehensive, up-to-date guide to these unique and fascinating plants. A great read for a rainy day! Price: $69.95.
