As a Permanent Resident, the total stamp duty payable by you on a purchase property may be an amount equal to the total of:-... 1. Eight percent (8% ) of the purchase price; plus 2. 10.01.2022 BUYING A PROPERTY TOGETHER? It is especially important to consider whether you wish to buy the property as joint tenants or tenants in common. Dont choose the wrong option. Joint Tenants have an automatic right of survivorship. ... If one Joint Tenant dies, the property is passed automatically to the surviving Joint Tenant. The property therefore falls outside the Will. That is, it can not be willed to anyone. Tenants in Common do not have automatic right of survivorship. As a Tenant in Common, your Will must specifically state to whom your share of the property is to be given following death. It may be your spouse or anyone else that you choose. As a Tenant in Common with another, you and the other person can choose how much share of the property will belong to you on purchase.
