11.01.2022 Hi All, We are so excited to announce that we can start back tomorrow, Wednesday 11th November at Albany Rise Primary School. - Kidz Karate will be fro...m 6:15 pm to 7 pm - Then... Intermediate/Senior Class from 7:15 pm to 8:30 pm. We have great news! To re-start our Kidz Karate, we are offering free classes and a $10 payment for students from the Intermediate/Senior Class. These discounted rates will apply until the end of this year (December 2020). Before we can re-start, we need to explain our 'COVID safe' plan. This is to support the directions from the school and the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). 1. IF YOU ARE SICK, DO NOT ATTEND CLASS. If you become sick after attending class, please inform Sam or Liz so we can immediately begin contact tracing protocol. 2. No parents are permitted on-site and must drop off and then collect their children from outside the gate. Liz will be at the gate to collect Kidz Karate students prior to class. 3. All students need to sign in their 'Name', 'Time of Entry' and 'Contact number for tracing'. This will be recorded at the front desk on the document entitled 'Cardaci Dojo's Sign In Sheet'. This "Sign In" will help in the event of contact tracing. 4. Sanitiser will be available for use for all. The training area will be sanitised between both classes as well. 5. Everyone is required to maintain a 1.5m between each other throughout the class. 6. It is important that we stick to strict timelines. This means that as soon as the Kids class ends (at 7 pm), students will need to leave the hall and be collected from the gate. Liz or another instructor will be available to escort them. This means that there is adequate time to clean the hall for the following Intermediate/Senior session. 7. If you have any friends that are interested to try out a few sessions, they will need to complete a waiver form at the front desk upon entry. I have also attached three documents that further explain these main points. We are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in contact with either Liz (0413 622 522) or Sam (0413 050 877). Also, if you know of anyone I have missed in this email chain, please let me know so I can send this information to them as well. Kindest Regards, Sam and Liz Cardaci CARDACI DOJO KYOU

03.01.2022 We are ALL Teachers!! This is a message I heard over 30 years ago at a Zen Do Kai Camp. The reason I mention this is to acknowledge one of our instructors who ...has for a long time made his income from being a professional martial arts TEACHER!!! Kyoshi Kyl is well known to you all and I’m sure you have all heard me talk fondly of this kind person. This week he was named third place for Brisbane’s Teacher of the Year. Such an amazing honour to be included on the large list to start with but then to make it to third place is impressive to say the least. My profession for the last 20 years has been as a teacher with Education Queensland so I know a little about what a teacher is and what a teacher is not. Yes, some people may say I’m bias towards Kyoshi Kyl and if that’s what you think then that’s ok. I believe I place credit where credit is due. Kyl has had his fair share of successes and failures. He has weathered the storm on more than one occasion and continued to work to inspire people. I have seen him go through the everything is about fitness stage (physical) to now understanding that the mental stage is as important if not more. Teaching is hard and to do it for a prolonged period of time cannot be faked, you have to want to see people improve themselves. You want to see them get over their mistakes and achieve success. Finally, congratulations Kyoshi Kyl. You have inspired lots of people to improve themselves and you deserve to be recognised as one of the top teachers in Brisbane.
