19.01.2022 In 2017 NSW declared that 99.0% of the state was affected by drought. In 2016 I was living in regional NSW and had been living there since 2013. This is a time ...I remember well, and in fact, I remember that summer of 2016 was the hottest summer I had ever experienced. But what is drought? By definition, a drought is a prolonged period of abnormally low rainfall, leading to a shortage of water. Or Thirst There is no doubt in my mind that Australia is suffering. No doubt that certain political members with responsibilities correlating directly to drought aren’t doing the job they were elected for. No doubt that the population affected is very angry. No doubt that the country’s bone dry. This country is in despair and I think I am not the only one that is angered about the lack of coverage and conversation around the topic. I think it is fair to say that drought is definitely a hard subject to conquer, and for sure you are going to feel helpless when trying to help these farmers and Australian residents affected. I think at the moment the best thing we can do for farmers is looking for solutions whether that be short-term or long term. I also think that is important to remember that while financial stress is a massive factor of drought, these people’s problems aren’t going to go away with one fell swoop when you give them money. I think these people deserve more, when there is a bush fire, we drop the people affected food and supplies and, even at times give them access to Australia’s defence force to help. In a flood, we rebuild people’s homes and send in volunteers to help recover. Why is it that people affected by the drought, a natural disaster itself aren’t receiving the same support? I think it is absolutely disgusting that the government is being grossly negligent to this crisis and the people affected. It’s time for a change, let’s do the Australian thing and help our mates out west. I really hope to give the people affected by this drought the coverage they deserve by filming this documentary. That's why on November the 7th of 2019 myself and a small will embark on a two-month journey to Inverell NSW where base-camp will be. We will be traveling to the surrounding areas and speak directly to the people involved in this crisis, and yes we know this isn't going to make it rain nor fix the problem, but it will shed light on the situation and educate others so that no one will ever forget what you went through. This is a fully independent project with no outside funding as of yet, so we can ensure the authenticity of this project as we have no political ties. 07.01.2022 NEW PROJECT! A couple of months ago I was speaking to my mum over the phone and she was telling me about the drought in her area, how her dams were all dried up and she had little water in her water tanks. How she was collecting her shower water to flush her toilet and how dry it was there. How the Rural property which she rents on had been brought by a Japanese corporation after the Australian owners could no longer afford to run the property. I was angry, I was sad and I wa...nted to help. But how? I can't make it rain. I can't give the farmers near enough financial support as they need. But I can use a camera. I can make waves. I CAN EDUCATE! and that's exactly what I plan to do. This year I will travel with my camera and maybe a friend and document the crisis that is evolving in this country because of climate change and ignorance. I will interview local farmers and residents and show you the effects the drought has had on them.
