21.01.2022 You know what, I'm super proud of myself for completing this qualification. It took me outside my comfort zone, and made my brain work in a completely different way. I've loved every bit of it (ok, almost every bit), and I can't wait to start the Cert 4 component. Go me!

21.01.2022 Here's a little bit of #pyjamayoga figure 4 love I love figure 4 so much, and here are a few reason why: 1. It's a good alternative hip opener to Pigeon Pose, or it just makes a nice change to Pigeon Pose... 2. Standing figure 4 is also a handy alternative to tree pose, especially if you're feeling a bit wobbly! 3. Or, you can add it to chair pose for a bit of extra challenge 4. You can find figure 4 standing, crouching, seated, lying down, against a chair... practically everywhere... 5. You can add a rotation, or not, it's totally up to you! 6. It can deliver lots of benefits, with modifications for pretty much everyone Pretty cool, huh? (although this pose isn't for everyone so always consult your health care provider before beginning any new practice, and practice with ahimsa - non violence towards all living things, including you! ). And if you've enjoyed this post, do a yogi a favour and like, comment, share and follow. It's good for your karma Love & light Claire

20.01.2022 At the beginning of every vinyasa yoga class I teach, I always pause for a couple of moments so we can: - connect with our breath - connect with our bodies, and - arrive in the moment... Sometimes I'm tempted to skip this important step, maybe because I'm excited about getting into the class that I've planned, or perhaps I can see some students struggling with the practice and I want to spare them from that. But as much as I may be tempted, I never do skip this part. Connecting with our breath is important because it can give us valuable clues about how we're feeling, in our bodies and our minds, that we can use to benefit our practice. It can also give our minds just enough to to do to keep them occupied so they don't seek out mischief without making our minds too busy to practice. Connecting with our bodies is essential to practising safely. A yoga teacher can only see your body from the outside, whereas you can feel your body from the inside. So you know will always know much more about what feels right for you...as long as you're in tune with your body. And arriving in the moment is exactly about that - being present in the here and now, being focussed, and letting go of anything that might try to distract you from your practice. This is one of the aspects of yoga that I think distinguishes it from other forms of exercise (because yes, the practice of the asanas or physical yoga postures is a form of exercise). The mind - body connection of ancient yogic wisdom that, excitingly, modern science is now exploring. This is one of my favourite topics, and something I could read about for hours!! How about you? Do you find this first part of the class easy or hard, or does it depend on the day? Have you used this practice in other parts of your life and if so how did it work? I'd love to know! And if you've enjoyed this post, do a yogi a favour and like, comment, share and follow. It's good for your karma (and of course, always consult your health care provider before beginning any new practice, and practice with ahimsa - non violence towards all living things, including you! ). Lots of love, Claire

18.01.2022 Who's coming to tomorrow morning's inaugural pyjama yoga class? Online, 6am, $10 - you can literally roll out of your bed, onto your mat, and find some mid-week zen. Places are limited, so text / email / message me ASAP to secure your spot, Claire

15.01.2022 This class was heaps of fun, and even included a small canine who may or may not have mastered her downward facing dog I'm already looking forward to next week's class, and if you're keen to join in the fun and find some mid-week zen at the same time let me know - places are strictly limited, so don't leave it too long

15.01.2022 In need of a #fridayfunny? You're welcome

14.01.2022 Are you craving a better night's sleep? Do you want to be able to close your eyes, drift peacefully off to sleep, and stay that way? Do you want to wake in the morning feeling refreshed and ready to seize the day? ... I know how you feel! After three kids, a busy corporate career, and long periods of high stress in my life, I absolutely know the toll disrupted sleep can take. For me, yoga has been the solution to improving my sleep, and here are the three main reasons for that: 1. A great yoga class makes me feel deliciously physically tired I love a high energy, fast paced power yoga class in the morning, but at night time I prefer a slower class to stretch out my muscles, use up residual energy, and make my body feel relaxed and tired without being fatigued. It's the perfect prelude to a lovely sleep. 2. Yoga slows the mind, the breath and the heart No matter how tired my body is, if I have lots of thoughts racing around my head I won't be able to get to sleep. Yoga is a wonderful way to find a space of peace and calm within your mind, encouraging your mental busy-ness to melt into the background with each breath, and slowing your heartbeat so you can drift more easily into relaxation. 3. A great night's sleep starts with a great routine Making yoga part of your "getting ready for sleep" routine signals to your mind and body that it's time for sleep. Clean face, clean teeth, brushed hair, yoga, the bed. Sweet dreams. If sleep is eluding you, why not try some yoga in the evening and see if that helps make a difference. I'd love to hear how you go. (of course, always consult your health care provider before beginning any new practice, and practice with ahimsa - non violence towards all living things, including you! ). And if you've enjoyed this post, do a yogi a favour and like, comment, share and follow. It's good for your karma Lots of love, Claire

12.01.2022 I'm a big fan of timing my movements with my breath, rather than trying to micro-manage my breath to make it fit my movements. This feels like a much more soothing way of practising to me - allowing my breath to set the pace, and then exploring my way into and out of poses with intention, as I breathe. I wear a bracelet that's inscribed with the words "she believed she could so she did, dancing with the flow".... The first part may be quite familiar to you. The second part comes from a yoga teacher of mine who once explained to me that, as she sees it, you can fight the flow (exhausting and possibly unproductive), you can go with the flow (saves energy, but may feel like resigning to the inevitable), or you can dance with the flow (accepting what is, and choosing how to respond in each moment). I choose to dance with the flow. Moving with my breath. What do you think? I'd love to know! And if you've enjoyed this post, do a yogi a favour and like, comment, share and follow. 11.01.2022 Today is #internationaldayofpersonswithdisabilities I'm passionate about the role exercise can play in improving quality of life for everyone, and one of my particular interests is working with people with disabilities. I'm also passionate about making the world accessible for people with disabilities.... As you move through your day today, maybe take a look around you and ask whether there's a change you can make to make your environment more inclusive. Because an inclusive world is a better world Lots of love, Claire

10.01.2022 Happy Saturday morning lovely tribe. If you see this post, could you leave a comment telling me your favourite yoga pose. If you don't have a favourite pose, maybe make one up Claire

09.01.2022 Sometimes my pyjama yoga is fast, sometimes it's slow. Sometimes it's structured, sometimes it's freestyle. Sometimes I choose to focus on certain poses for my body, and sometimes I let my body choose the poses for me. ... Sometimes I move a lot, sometimes I move a little. Sometimes there are dogs in the pics, sometimes they're down the back talking to a neighbour's cow. But my pyjama yoga practice is always divine, and I always feel brilliant afterwards Love & light Claire

03.01.2022 I don't have favourites, but if I did, Wednesday's 6am #pyjamayoga class would be one of them (). I love doing yoga in the morning because it's such a brilliant way to set yourself up for the day, and pyjama yoga has the added bonus that you can literally roll out of your bed onto your mat and get straight into finding some zen. No need to worry about getting changed or doing your hair. And because it's an online class, you don't even need to leave home! Each of these poses... can be tailored to suit different experience levels, so you can find what works for you, and challenge yourself if you want to. If you prefer to practice in the morning then #pjyoga could be for you. Come along and give it a go, I'd love to see your lovely face on your mat, some time soon Love & light, Claire

02.01.2022 And so I reminded myself today

02.01.2022 I have some super exciting news on the way and I can't wait to be able to tell you! I've been working on something for a little while, and it's finally coming together. I just have a few more ducks to get in a row, and then I will be able to spill the beans!! I'm not going to lie, it's probably something that will be more for the Sunny Coast yogis amongst us, but I hope you'll all be as excited as I am when I can finally let you all in on the secret... Make sure you follow Zenadu on the socials - don't be the last to know!! Love & light, Claire

01.01.2022 I love exploring new sequences of poses, sometimes called a "mini vini". These are shorter sequences of yoga poses within a bigger sequence of poses. Here's one I've been playing around with for the last week or two, and I really love it! ... How about you? Do you enjoy trying new sequences, or do you have a particular sequence you love? I'd love to know! And if you've enjoyed this post, do a yogi a favour and like, comment, share and follow. It's good for your karma (and of course, always consult your health care provider before beginning any new practice, and practice with ahimsa - non violence towards all living things, including you! ).
