A poorly set up environment can lead to behaviour and welfare issues. Click on the article below for more detail, but in summary: 1. Provide your cat with a safe place, somewhere they can hide when they may be feeling a little, or a lot, anxious. 2. Have more than one cat? Then you need multiple resources such as... food and water bowls, litter trays and scratching posts . And remember to put them in different places in the house. 3. It is instinct for cats to.hunt....but we really do prefer them not to eat the wildlife! So to satisfy this instinct, provide your cat with plenty of opportunitues to play, especially 'hunting' games. 4. Cats like positive, consistent and predictable interactions with humans . 06.01.2022 Did you know? The cats ancestor, the African wildcat - Felis silvestris lybica - still lives today and is a solitary nocturnal hunter. While modern day domestic cat DNA is almost identical to that of the African wildcat, they have not undergone major changes during domestication and their form and behaviour remain very similar to that of their wildcat ancestors. This means our kitties are capable of surviving in the wild, and can readily revert to a feral or wild existence. Hard to believe as you glance over at your cute little fluffy pants stretched out in luxury on the sofa waiting to be waited on...but it's true!
