25.01.2022 The Language of Yoga: Chitta Chitta translation is usually mind chatter, or monkey mind, which as you might guess, refers to the tendency of our minds to flit about from one thought to the next. Chittas mental function is to store and organize all of the experiences of manas into samskaras memories, impressions and emotional patterns. Chitta constantly accesses our samskara database to provide context, depth and understanding to our current experience of the world. Strong samskaras shape our overall character and behavioral traits and can color (klishta) or distort manas to create psychological projections and false perceptions.



25.01.2022 We humans are massive creatives of habit. Sometimes we are fully aware of them, others times we are completely unconscious of them. The important thing is the judgement and story we attach to our habits. How often do you take the time to reflect upon a habit and notice what comes up. We say to ourselves that I will never drink wine again or eat bad food. Saturday comes the temptation is too strong. We give in... Heres the thing when the desire for the habit arises, accept it, and slowly overtime replace it with a good habit, one that loves you. The key lies in practicing Loving Kindness towards ourselves and letting go of judgement.

When you take a step and observe your thoughts from a distance, you realize that if youre observing them, then they cant be you. Eckhart Tolle says it best: What a liberation to realize that the voice in my head is not who I am.... Who am I then? The one who sees that. 19.01.2022 -MANAS- With our modern emphasis on the physical practice of asana its hard to believe that for thousands of years yoga was completely a mental practice. As the Unleash Yogis start to explored the inner workings of the mind (not the body!) We start to understand, there are four functions of a yogis mind. Manas is the lowest aspect of our mind that oversees and manages the constant flood of sensory information entering the body. Manas directs our attention to specific s...ensory organs and it also measures, tests and questions the validity of the information it receives. manas controls the 10 senses (karmendriyas: speaking, grasping, moving, procreating, eliminating and jnanendriyas: hearing, touching, seeing, tasting and smelling) You can choose to observe manas for a day or a week. One way to start is to remember what this function does and to start to notice what its role is in the action you do at this moment. Which senses are you employing? Who is controlling the senses? Remember that this is manas. When you see this you are witnessing manas at the spot, live in action.

02.01.2022 - Satya - Being Truthful: Nurturing relationships with practice of satya.... Before you speak, let your words pass through 3 gates.... At the first gate,ask yourself Is it true? At the second gate ask, Is it necessary? At the third gate ask, Is it kind? THINK TIs it true? HIs it helpful? IIs it inspiring? NIs it necessary? KIs it kind? The practice of satya is not about blindly and heedlessly telling the truth without considering the consequences. It is much more about restraint: about taking our time and carefully considering our thoughts and words, so that the way in which we express the truth helps, inspires, uplifts the other human being and nurtures our relationship. Moreover, in telling the truth we should aim to cause the least harm possible. If speaking the truth will cause pain or suffering, then it may be best to remain silent. This is practicing Satya. Some of us are so afraid to hurt someones feelings that instead of speaking honestly, we hold our words inside. This is also against satya. If we never tell someone that their behavior is hurtful, or if we hold in all of our pain, we are ultimately suffocating our relationship. Have some quiet time to find ways to express yourself and the truth kindly, mindfully, and with all your sincerity. At times, there are situations where we need to give feedback Feedback has to be honest in order to be useful. But if we develop the skill of giving honest yet encouraging and inspiring feedback, this will definitely create a supportive and nurturing relationships By speaking with kind truth, our relationships will flourish and grow, particularly the relationship the one with yourself. If you understand and know how to nurture yourself, you will be able to nurture all around you. Yoga is a practice of awareness. Practicing satya requires awareness of the effect our words and thoughts have on others and ourselves. This requires being in the present moment. When we are stressed, who has time to think about the right words to speak? But then we may have to face the undesirable consequences.
