22.01.2022 Judo resumes today! Looking forward to getting on the mat again.Judo resumes today! Looking forward to getting on the mat again.

20.01.2022 Judo on as usual today!

17.01.2022 Looking forward to the Summer Training Day this Saturday. One aspect of Judo we'll be unpacking is Henka waza, variations of techniques as classically performed. I think of Henka waza as a core demonstration of fluency in Judo. Variations can be made to better suit a self defence scenario, and many variations have come out of randori and shiai, diagnosing the nature and habits of oneself and one's opponents. What are your favourite variations?

14.01.2022 Restrictions still have not eased for indoor contact sports so no classes today I'm afraid. Stay safe and stay fit.

11.01.2022 Kumikata Thursday! We will be looking at kenka yotsu, nage-waza from the lapel or double lapel.

11.01.2022 It is a hard decision to make but considering the spread of COVID-19 I am going to give everyone at Zenyo a chance to isolate. Classes will be canceled for the next two weeks - resuming April 4th, hopefully.

10.01.2022 On being smart about COVID (Corona Virus) and training at Zenyo. For the time being training will continue as normal, with extra precautions. Be aware that fever OR acute respiratory infection (eg shortness of breath, cough, sore throat) with or without fever could be corona so don't come in to train if you are getting these symptoms. Wash your hands before training. Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy has recommended against attending large gatherings but a weekly Judo class does not fit that criteria. Still, consider where you have been and if it is highly likely you have been in contact with a confirmed case of Corona virus, take the week off. Take care everyone, D

09.01.2022 For those who have not yet been made aware Judo is back on. :D Saturdays and Mondays.

06.01.2022 Judo classes are resuming at Melbourne Budo Academy. Monday: 4.30 to 5.50 for Juniors. 6 - 7 for Seniors. Saturday: 2 - 4pm PLEASE NOTE: All classes are non-contact until restrictions are lifted. Also please book in advance.

06.01.2022 Wellbeing Check: hoping all Zenyo members are safe and healthy. I have had some questions about running some online classes and am happy to arrange that if I get enough positive feedback in that direction. Really I just want to make sure everyone is doing well and to keep the local Judo community we have built here going. So stay in touch. Happy to recommend some Judo videos too.

06.01.2022 Just a post to say that if you are feeling frustrated about not being able to get on the mat and train, play judo, practice ukemi, tachi and ne waza - you're not alone. We are in lock down but that doesn't mean we can't stay fit: conditioning our bodies and minds. You'd be amazed at what 50 push-ups and 50 sit-ups every day will do. Shadow judo is still judo, just like shadow boxing is still boxing. Please stay in touch, and stay healthy.
