24.01.2022 We don't get to meet the families we help but we often receive messages from staff at shelters assuring us of the difference we are making. This is a lovely letter we recently received from the Co-ordinator of one of the shelters we support in Tasmania. To: The Zephyr Education team I wish to express our sincere appreciation for Zephyr Education’s ongoing support of our service and our young residents.... As you would be aware, many of the women and children who access our crisis service are homeless, or escaping family violence. They often arrive at our door with only the clothes they are wearing, and it is a difficult and traumatic time. Through your service, we are able to kit out our young residents with all they require to start fresh at school, looking and feeling like any other student complete with uniform, lovely new shoes, backpacks, drink bottles and lunch boxes. School is often a great comfort to our children, providing stability and friendly faces. Your donation helps them to settle in and it also means providing these basic school essentials is one thing that our stressed Mums do not have to worry about. 21.01.2022 Gary is a fun loving and energetic Sunshine Coast man who is devoted to helping those who are less fortunate. 2021 has Gary embarking on his most ambitious fundraising project to date, with a target of raising $20,000 in support of Zephyr Education to help children affected by domestic violence. Gary is no stranger to fundraising, having previously walked 156km to raise thousands of dollars for the Fred Hollows Foundation, as well as other fundraising work. Gary loves bring...ing a smile to people's faces and enjoys spreading joy and happiness. 13.01.2022 A huge thank you to Suncorp’s Scott and Brendan who decided to put their lock-down beards to good use by organising a fundraiser through Suncorp’s Brighter Futures Program with proceeds going to Zephyr Education. Their fundraiser is called Team Digital ISO Beards. So far they’ve raised over $1000 and the challenge runs until 10 July. Fantastic work guys and thanks also to all your work colleagues who have supported us. This is the email they sent out:... Hi Everyone, As we know, despite the challenges put forward with COVID-19, the last couple of months has been a period of great growth for us all. For Brendan and I, this growth has been very obvious! As restrictions start to ease and life gets a bit closer to normal, Brendan and I wanted to say goodbye to our beards and do something with a little purpose. We have reached out to Suncorp’s Employee Giving Program - Brighter Futures and have decided to raise money for Zephyr Education. Zephyr Education helps children impacted by domestic violence, by helping kids with all of their essentials for schooling (uniforms, books, stationery, etc), across a number of family violence shelters in both Queensland and Tasmania. 07.01.2022 On Wednesday, one of our most dedicated volunteers single handedly packed these 20 boxes of school stationery, bags, shoes and other school items ready for shipping to North Queensland by our friends Followmont Transport. You are an official Zephyr legend Helen!
