25.01.2022 Just before I took this photo he was walking around on his phone. Now he is passing the insulation through to a co worker! No fall protection, ladder not secured or long enough, no harness. Why do workers still take the risk? #safety #safetyfirst #contractor #building #construction #height #workingheights

21.01.2022 ISSUED BY ELECTRICAL SAFETY OFFICE. <> Property owners and managers must ensure their property is electrically safe for tenants and people that visit or work on the property. The Electrical safety in rental propertiesproperty owners guide includes information on installing safety switches, smoke alarm laws, what to do if anyone receives tingles or shocks from electrical equipment, taps and other metal fittings, maintaining solar PV systems and the dangers of DIY electrical work. https://www.worksafe.qld.gov.au//electrical-safety-in-rent

21.01.2022 How good are you at recycling. Try out the questionnaire http://mobile.abc.net.au//quiz-what-is-rubbish-wh/9999690

21.01.2022 I thought I would complete the training to see how detailed it was etc. If your business has essential workers (even just office workers) it would be a good idea to get them to spend 30 minutes to complete this. It is sometimes the small things that get overlooked in the workplace. E.g regularly wiping down office spaces.

21.01.2022 Office window view! Neighbours house going up. Shall be interesting over the next few months

19.01.2022 Coroner has handed down his 300 pages of findings from the 2016 Dreamworld fatalities. WHAT DID THE CORONER SAY? * The ride was "completely unsafe" at the time * The tragedy was a "unique and catastrophic incident"... * "Shoddy record-keeping was a significant contributor" * Safety procedures were "rudimentary" and "unsophisticated" * That nobody else had died was "more good luck than good management" WHAT DID THE CORONER RECOMMEND? * Dreamworld owner Ardent Leisure should be referred to the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) for possible prosecution * Tom Polley has been referred to the Board of Professional Engineers for failing to properly inspect the ride * Amusement park rides inspection and licensing regulations be improved * A Code of Practice be developed for the amusement ride industry in Queensland * Australia adopt best practice safety requirements from Europe and America * More engineers be properly trained to inspect amusement rides * Australian safety standards for water rides be improved in line with rollercoasters https://7news.com.au//dreamworld-coroner-slams-gold-coast-

18.01.2022 Our legal system is appalling. 7 years jail, parole after 2 years. Jasons family have a life sentence. He knew what he was doing was wrong, tried to cover it up and then lied in court and he still only gets 2 years. That doesnt seem like justice. I hope he also has his electrical licence stripped for life so he cant endanger anyones life again. http://www.abc.net.au//jason-garrels-death-sentence/9532144

18.01.2022 Do you want solar panels but cant afford or justify the outlay?Have you heard of Pay $0 Upfront with Solar Flex"? Well my good friend Seth has teamed up with Origin to be the preferred suppliers of the Pay $0 Upfront with Solar Flex". How it works is they put panels on your house or business and there needs to be a commitment of 10 years to stay with that provider. In return you get a reduce cents/kw. They estimate a saving up... to 60% for your day time power! That can be a huge saving and no cost outlay. I dont know all the terms and conditions but Seth would be happy to discuss it further if you are interested or want to know more!! Seths details are below! 14.01.2022 Stupidity at its best #safety #safetyfirst

14.01.2022 Went in today to @babygiveback to drop off all the donations and treats for the volunteers. Decided to stick around for a bit and help out. Here are some of the nappy bags I packed. Such a great charity to support. If you are looking for a charity to support or have some baby items to donate let me know! I would be happy to take them off your hands and get them to the Gold Coast #donations #charity #brisbane #goldcoast @ Baby Give Back

14.01.2022 Importance of systems in place....this fatality could have been avoided

14.01.2022 ISSUED BY ELECTRICAL SAFETY OFFICE <> The Electrical safety in rental propertiestenants guide was developed in consultation with Tenants Queensland and is available as a magnetic spiral-bound flip-chart for the fridge.... It contains at-a-glance information and some simple things tenants can do to make using electricity in their home as safe as possible. This includes testing safety switches and smoke alarms, dangers in roof spaces, checking and maintaining electrical appliances, overhead powerlines and the dangers of buying electrical appliances online. https://www.worksafe.qld.gov.au//electrical-safety-in-rent

13.01.2022 This was a site I didnt expect to see....people still risking their lives. When I told them what I do for work, they were more concerned that they werent told the property owner works in safety....buddy you should be safe all the time!! Cutting corners can cost a life!

13.01.2022 Such a positive step in the right direction. Having recently built, and have 2 houses being built beside us atm. I have seen first hand corners being cut. The worst trade is the concretors.....only PPE worn is shorts!!

12.01.2022 These contractors havent put much thought into tools, equipment, safe access and PPE before starting the job! #safety #safetyfirst #contractor #electrician @ Banyo

12.01.2022 Interesting read. So many failures that resulted in 2 peoples death. Also shows that by employing contractors does not discharge ur whs responsibility and duty of care. Its amazing how many employers think they arent responsible for their contractors safety

11.01.2022 This is a friends business, very fascinating information re Hempcrete. If you havent heard of it, it is worth a read.....

11.01.2022 So this truck and the one in front was blocking our street...he was also blocking my driveway until I asked him to move.....he moved after he swore and ranted and raved first....I will add he did this while I was holding my 5 month old. My concern is if myself or my neighbours needed emergency services they couldnt get thru this way.....every minute could mean the difference between life or death!!! If you have workers out and about please make sure they are considerate to those living in the area. #safety #contractor #building #construction #banyo #brisbane

10.01.2022 A lot of people get bored by statistics, but they are real. Especially these ones. Since January 2017 to 26 April 2017 there has been a staggering 51 workplace deaths. That is one every 2.2 days! So following these statistics there has likely been 2 fatalities this week. 2 workers that have not returned home to their families. 2 workplaces that have been significantly affected by the death of their workmate. The impact these 2 fatalities have a on our society is signific...ant, it becomes a spider effect. It is not just the families and workers, its the doctors, paramedics, police, safety professionals etc. Ensure your business is fully across what the health and safety legislation in your jurisdiction requires and keep your workers and your work environment safe. If you need further assistance with this please contact me today for a free 30 min no obligation chat. See more

10.01.2022 Check out this case study....time saving using Sherm is incredible !!

10.01.2022 ATTENTION - Building and Construction Industry Businesses in Queensland

09.01.2022 Lots of construction going on in my neighbourhood. Great to see the builders are barricading the site and putting up signage. #safety #safetyfirst #contractor #building #builders #buildersbrisbane

06.01.2022 STAND UP - lets talk about Mental Health

05.01.2022 shewear has launched a care programme for women affected by the devastating Australian bushfires. Do you know any women? https://www.shewear.com.au/she-wear-care-programme/

05.01.2022 Do you know where your workers are? This business owner would have got a call from the police notifying them their worker ploughed a car into a residential property (my rental) and has been taken to hospital! Hopefully they have processes in place to firstly look after their injured worker and secondly deal with the damage to my property!

04.01.2022 Many employers think by having a contractor/sub contractor they have discharged their responsibility with regards to Health and Safety. The way a worker is determined under the WHS Legislation is very different to the Workcover and HR Legislation. Under WHS Legislation (QLD, NSW, SA, TAS) a Worker can be an employee, contractor, subcontractor, outworker, apprentice and trainee, work experience student, volunteer and PCBUs who are individuals if they perform work for the business. Recently in QLD a Housing Construction business has been fined as the Principal Contractor for injury sustained by a contracting companies employee. Read the details here https://www.worksafe.qld.gov.au//builder-fined-%24110000-o

04.01.2022 Prizes ready for my daughters school festival in October!! @ Banyo

03.01.2022 Interesting how government are forcing businesses to change with plastic bags (which is great). However there is no requirement in Qld for the construction industry to seperate their waste. All of which you see in these pictures goes directly to landfill. Such a missed opportunity to recycle and reuse!! Only good thing, on the weekend sometimes people go through the bins and take bits of timber etc. #environment #recycle #reuse #construction #building #contractor #timeforachange

03.01.2022 Very handy diagram on where asbestos could be found in the home.

02.01.2022 Things I see when out and about. Whether empty or full these need to be stored correctly. And these definately were not stored correctly!

02.01.2022 So who has old x-rays sitting around in the cupboard? Did you know that you can recycle these? Did you know they actually contain silver? I had a pile sitting in the cupboard and thought....surely someone recycles these!! And I was very surprised the answer was yes.....and more so that they strip silver form them. ... If you have some lying around, find your closest recycle facility Information - X-ray films are processed in a refinery to extract the silver. - The x-ray films are heated using temperatures of over 1,000 degrees celsius. - The silver is extracted and converted into a more pure silver form. - The silver can then be reused for things such as silver solder, jewellery, the silver plating of utensils, electrical components and film manufacture. https://recyclingnearyou.com.au/xray/BrisbaneQLD

01.01.2022 Being a small business is sometimes tough, but when you get a message like the following you know your hard work is paying off.... "Thank you so much for all your hard work!!! You have helped us out so much!!! And you will help us out even more in the years to come!!! One of the best decisions that we have ever made :) "
