25.01.2022 Thanks so much to everyone who offered help this morning when we were threatened by bushfire. All is well and we're now starting to bring horses home from Gidge showgrounds. Zia staff did an amazing job, staying calm and focussed throughout. Many thanks to Jan for making the stables at Gidge available for us.

24.01.2022 Our second week of the school holidays camp was all about eventing. Riders practiced riding dressage tests, show jumping, pace work and cross country jumping. The focus was on safety, control of speed and direction, and rules for eventing competitions. We also had one group of beginners who missed out on a place in the first week of the holidays. Although we had a bit of wet weather, all the lessons went ahead and the horses and riders managed to stay mostly dry. Thanks to all of the great coaches who kept the riders on their toes, and to our patient horses and ponies who make it all possible.

23.01.2022 A timely reminder for our pupils this week who are attending the Eventing program at Zia Park. This is NOT just about competition dressage, it is the foundation of all of our training with our horses. Imagine yourself cantering around your jumping and XC courses today with perfect rhythm, in harmony with a confident supple horse who holds a straight line into and away from his fences. It all starts with YOUR balance and your ability to use your own weight and posture to help your horse do his job. Keep working on it throughout your riding career so that you and your horse will be as safe and as successful as you can be.

19.01.2022 Several Zia Park riders participated in the Hazel Pither Shield Showjumping competition and the Waldon Cup Dressage competition. These are annual interclub events run by and for the Hills Zone of PCAWA and were hosted this year by Gidgegannup Horse and Pony Club. The Hills zone consists of Gidgegannup, Eastern Hills, Darlington, Wooroloo, Walliston and Balkauling. Both competitions are named after long time PCAWA supporters and volunteers in the zone. Hazel Pither was ...a very well known supporter of Show Jumping and Pony Club in WA and this annual event is held in her memory and in recognition of her service to the sport. The Waldon family were members of Darlington Pony Club who ran, sponsored and supported events for many years in the area. Riders competed in teams for their club, in some cases they competed in composite teams made up of riders from different clubs. Both competitions encourage good sportsmanship and team effort. The organisers and officials were fantastically helpful and supportive of all the riders and we thank them for putting on this lovely day for all of us. Zia Park riders were Aiofe (Eastern Hills) on Jesse, Eloise on Charlie Brown, Sophie on Nellie, Mair on Lillie, Ella on Asha, Sarskia on Rascal and Lucy on Maggie May (all from Gidgegannup). 16.01.2022 Our first spring school holiday program had 26 very excited children/beginner riders enjoy mounted and unmounted lessons from vaulting and flatwork to pony arts and crafts.

13.01.2022 Zia Park riders had an absolute fantastic day representing their adult riding clubs at the ACRA Spring Dressage Challenge at Brookleigh. Kate, Melinda and Michelle and their horses Cruiser, Andi and Pops had a lot of fun and brought home ribbons and prizes. Gail and Kai where there to support the team and many other Zia riders watched and cheered.

09.01.2022 Happy birthday Krystal, We all had a great time helping you celebrate. So much food! Thanks to everyone who helped pull this off by bringing food, drinks, music, good company and keeping the secret! Special mention to Milly for the amazing strawberry shortcake birthday cake, Heide for the best devilled eggs anyone had ever tasted and Craig for sleeping at the bonfire site to make sure the fire didn't get away overnight.

08.01.2022 Jumping Equitation winners cash in their cheques! Aiofe on Jesse, Lucy on Maggie, Melinda on Buster, Olivia on Brax and Kylie on Jarrah were the well deserving winners of our virtual Jumping Equitation competition, judged by Debbie Greenwood, GP jumping rider, coach and judge, originally from South Africa. On Monday, it was finally time to cash in their winner’s cheques and they were all rewarded with a short clinic with Debbie. In total 22 of Zia Park Equestrian Centre’s riders took part in the virtual Jumping Equitation event in June and all received invaluable, written feedback from Debbie. A big thank you goes to Debbie for her support of this event and the riders at Zia Park.
